I phrased that poorly. I was considering adding the corkscrew from a Waiter to this one so as to have the saw in a two-layer knife with a corkscrew. This is in such good shape, though!  :-\

I think I understood you!  I just have the ‘this knife is too rare to mod until I get another one like it’ disease. I was just trying to pass that along to you. Sorry. I shouldn’t push my craziness too much.  ;) :D

It would be a cool mod.  I like that the 84mm frame and platform allow the ability to include or completely exclude backside tools. It’s good to have options.

That's the reason I was thinking out loud instead of just tearing it apart! ;)
I was on the hunt for a Lumberjack with this mod in mind, but now? :dunno:

Well, I bought several new Walkers so I wouldn’t have to deal with that issue!  I’m sorry for not helping!

My SAK addiction has gotten to the level of: tear in down new knives so I don’t have to use (as many) of the somewhat collectible ones. I do like that early combo tool. If I were putting it in a mod or modding it, I would try to use one from a less valuable/rare waiter of the same era late ‘70s to early ‘80s.  :dunno:

But I do think it’ll be a cool knife either way…

That's a nice picture kamakiri  :salute:
Like that collection piece I own saw here (build your own sak or something), it would be neat to frame single sak's disassembled like that !

Thanks guys.  :)

Framing would be a great idea…but for me, I think it would draw some unwanted attention from wifey. Like, ‘You bought that new knife, so you could take it apart, *then* frame it?’  Or something snarky like, ‘Do you have a knife handy? Because I can’t use that one on the wall…’  ::)

 Maybe I just hide it in my office a bit.  :D

Here's my Elinox Hoffritz Lumberjack with the bottle opener instead of a combo tool. I have a Walker but it's on a shelf I can't reach from my wheelchair.  :dunno:

Too cool. I’ve wondered as if somewhat predicted/guessed that these existed. After I found a similar Hoffritz/Elinox (ESSR/blank tang) but 91mm ‘Camper’ that I date to ‘74.

I’m guessing your tang stamp is ESSR/blank? Maybe ESSR/VSSR (very rare) if it’s just a bit later?

Here's mine. I got it couple of years ago because I wanted a minimalist SAK that still has the saw.

I also knocked one up from an alox bantam and a spare 84mm saw I had. Really nice little knife but bit thin for my liking - actually prefer a Walker!  :o

 :tu:

That’d be a good reason to add another layer. Can’t have knives that are ‘too thin’ laying around!  ;)

Well, that stainless 84mm metal saw mod you noticed had to go somewhere, right?

Much more to do before it and it’s siblings see the light of the interwebs.

Who indeed  :D

Here´s my (unused) Walker together with my work knife for the past few years.
It´s called the BuSchroder, or Poor Man´s Bushcrafter.
It´s a mod, a Farmer without opener layer.
