FAK Failure - Trusted Gear
on: May 09, 2016, 09:31:35 PM
So, recently I need ad band aid and because I was lazy instead of getting up and to the medical cabinet i took one out of my FAK that was in next to me.

Within minutes the band-aid came off again. The band aid where non-distinct from a name-branded FAK kit (Tatonka). Now, I tested the band-aids when I first put them into the kit but of course didn't realize they would age so poorly (they were about a year old).

That is why I decided to switch all my band-aids to Hansaplast (what I have in my medical cabinet and has proven to work extremely well). I also decided to switch to single wrapped band-aids simply because that packaging will increase life expectancy.

And because we can't test everything, especially not over time I ask you guys.
What brand/product do you trust?
Which one would you never put into your FAK/Survival kit?
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

I think there is a spelling mistake in the title
Kelly: "Daddy, what makes men cheat on women?
Al : "Women!"

Luckily I haven't had to use their products for anything bigger than small cuts but the local go-to brand seems to be Cederroth, it's the one supplier of FAKs for workplaces and such and you see their first aid stations quite often. Since I figure they are number one for a reason I carry their 4 in 1 mini Blood Stopper an alcohol wipe in my small EDC-kit. The stuff I have been using from them have worked well.

Other than that I have great faith in our former state monopoly and their products for stuff like band-aids and generic drugs.
