What a day!

Well the day was starting off well. Few jobs on one of the boats to do and then a day in the workshop was planned as i had a littke project for myself to do aswell as repair some advertising boards and sort out my main workbench.
So the the vhf was not turning on simple wire repair needed using my wave i cut the wire strip it back and crimp it together with a through crimp. Job done.
Next the lock on the toilet door is busted needs replaced. Again wave does most of the work but needed a small screwdriver for the vacant/engaged slider.
The captains chair is loose again wave tightens 2 nuts...phone rings wave gets put down on the chair. Turns out the one of the girls that sometimes drives the speedboat with photographers to the big boats ao they can sell the pictures as they come back in does not want to go out as the sea is rough and the other regular guy is on holiday so can I do it? Sure! I always jump at the chance to drive the speedboat anyway. So i walk around to the office to get the keys and low and behold there is no gasoline in it, so off to the gas station to fill up. While waiting in the que i decide to check the oil...the oil level is really low. So topped the oil up. Filled the gas tank and went to the pontoon to take the first lot of girls out (there is different trips throughout the day and we also offer the photo service to other excursion companies) first trip goes off with outba hitch and boy do I have some fun on the way back on my own...so go into the work shop as i have a spare couple hours and start working on the advertising boards, the wind had damaged them over the last week...tools used milwaukee corldless drill 13mm socket and a 13mm spanner and the gerber suspension I keep on my work bench

Time to go out on the boat again. All the girls get off and I have to  go back out about a mile to pick one up to take her back to the harbour. Then the motor drops revs and stops suddenly i turn it off. I knew the problem i had fouled the propeller. I looked over the back and sure enough there was a thick rope tangled around the prop (alot of times rope and other debri lies just below the water and in choppy seas is difficult to see) I raise the outboard and take a look, i reach down but am unable to untangle it. No problem i reach down to get the wave off my belt...but its not there. I left it on the captains chair. I look in the locker in the console for the victorinox helmsman i keep there but thats missing too all i have is the classic on my keys and thats defiantly not up the job. In the end i manage to get it untangled with great difficulty. So go back to the harbor for a coffee and a snack and to pick up my wave then its out again. This time  everything goes off without a hitch. Get back clean boat lock it up go the office. One of the crew is there with a secretary trying the get the door open...to my suprise he has a sak new soldier and is usijg the screwdriver to disassemble the handle its totaly broken inside corroded with rust. Jump on my bandit to go to the hardware store and guess what the battery is flat! I get the booster from the wrokshop get the new handle and latch fit it day is done! Went straight to the gym worked out for 30 minutes then came home and i'm currently having a bottle of san miguel waiting for a chinease takeout!

Sorry for the long post didn't mean to rant that long just wanted to get it out there sort of thing and feel aot more relaxed now! 

Maybe i can keep this thread going a little bit like the "crows nest" or "smaugs den"

You could not have planned a day like that if you were training someone.  Glad you kept your wits about you.  Enjoy the cold one or three and knowing a job well done.

Days like that are why we keep good quality tools handy!  I've had days like that myself and been glad I had a good tool with me.  I've also had days like that when I was routinely annoyed by the fact that I didn't have tool with me.

Glad you made it through intact.  As frustrating as it is, you can relax now knowing you handled it.  There's nothing like winning when life decides to push you!

And i do agree that the classic is a underestimated tool! And capable of alot of tasks

Not talking about copying him, it was about a Classic doing every kinda task. That's maybe because he's so used to it and using it that he can do the same stuff we need a couple of SwissChamps to do.

No way was  it gonna cut through that rooe haha. Although it is a useful little tool

Don't count the Classic short.... I once knew a guy who cleaned a deer with a Classic.  It was far from ideal but it was all he had.
