I saw this picture some time ago and was reminded of it with the recent discussions on rescue tools. There doesn't seem to be any info on it on the SAK-wiki and pictures seem scarce all over. Was this a tool that never made in to production or was it part of a very limited edition or what. It does seem like it could be a very useful tool for certain situations if it was done right.
Tosh would know, he's been looking for one for his collection.

I've just found this knife by luck!It has the red transparent silicone on the cutter. Is there anyone with more information? how many were made?thanks! (some pics later )
I believe this was the knife the actual Alinghi crew carried. IIRC the cutter was a ceramic blade... and that is all the information I have, please consume with a grain of salt
This blade is probably made of copper
It appears it was given only to the crew members; it's blade is ss over carbon steel and a titanium coating.More info. here: https://archive.is/sdIJD

Very useful knowledge! Thank you Juan el Boricua
Juan el Boricua, many thanks for the information! I will add the information in the SAKWiki, if you don't mind.
I too read that this had only been produced for the Alinghi team.
Wow! tosh, thank you so much for the great detailed photos of the rescue tool! (I suppose, we need a new page in SAKWiki for this tool. )
I’ve uploaded the pics previously here on MT’o
I have 2 copies of the Wenger Rescue knife
Could you please allow the use of your photos in the SAKWiki (with the appropriate reference)?Excellent! Maybe you know the identifier of this model?
Yes of course
Sorry, can’t help you with the identifier as they both came without their box’s
Well... Here's mine
Well done and thanks vey much - And also for the other Alinghi pages and updates
My pleasure, Sir Huntsman. Maybe we can add in the SAKWiki a great photo of the unused Alinghi rescue tool by Sir bismouth?
We should definitely do that ...... Are we OK to use your pictures Sir Bismouth. If so - Shall we credit 'bismouth from MT.o' as the author of the pics - Let us know if otherwise. Thanks - I am happy to upload or you can Nick!
