While changing the bandage, I measured it. the wound is 1/2 inch across and measuring the Wenger blade, it reaches that width at the nail nick, 1 inch from the tip.

Surely there's no way it went in an inch....

I tried to take another pic but every angle I tried looked like a sext from Carlos Danger.....

Yes... that happens. To many of us - if not already it will happen earlier or later.

I hope you will recover soon and without damage - does the foot almost feel good or is it still numb?

Have a beverage or five and it will heal at its own (as we use to say here).

If you die, can I have your SAKs?

Seriously, hoping it doesn't turn out to be serious.

Damn it, son! You should know better by now how to handle knives! And posting a new thread about it! Geez! You sound like a Bulgarian girl!

Some guys even do that with heavy-weighing pointed survival-knives and proudly sharpened hatchets. Imagine what could happen.

Ouch!

Go get a tetanus shot if you haven't had one in awhile.  Puncture wounds are bad as it gets the bacteria/contaminant that can be on the blade deep inside.  Err on the side of caution.

I feel your pain about nerve damage.  My worst work accident with knives gave me a 2 inch gash along my left index finger and I still have no feeling in part of it.

Play safe!

If it's been 25 years since you had a tetanus shot you really should haul yourself in and get one.  If you think you cut a nerve you should probably get checked out anyway.  If you do see Karl Elsener again please tell him I said Hi, and also, thanks for the cool knives.

I put pressure on it for about 30 mins with gauze backed with paper towels. It bled a bunch but that was good to help push all the foreign stuff out of it.  :tu:

Hate driving all the way to town to see the doc, but I'm going Monday. It's about a 35 mile round trip (a third of that on dirt roads). For a guy with a ton of chronic stuff wrong, I rarely "catch" anything like colds/flu etc. My doc (he's a friend) stops refilling my meds so I'll be forced to come see him every 6 months or so for tests.

I hear you Robert.  Still, it's the better of two evils.  My wife has me at the doc more often than not, even if I don't see the need.  I'm full of scars from sharp SAKs from over the years.  My biggest yet is on my thumb from my new Huntsman  back in 1984. My uncle about passed out when I did a home cauterize job on it!!

One can also use a shirt, towel or small linen bag as a bandage, attached with dental floss and some duck tape. A small linen bag and dental floss can be carried in a small EDC bag with multiple  applications. The bloody bag or towel can be washed afterwards, or be discarded.

Thanks Yud!!!  Being out in the sticks, and my mom on a blood thinner, we have a pretty complete first aid/ medical kit with gauze, wrap, QuikClot sponges, bandages, sutures and hope to add a wound staple kit to it soon.
