Last year, our Staatsbosbeheer (National Forest Service) put up a webcam in an owl´s nest.

Kids loved it! Until two of the little chicks started feeding on a third....

survival of the fittest I guess

Sure that´s what it was. But there were lots of distressed kids and angry parents.

I understand why but it is still a bit silly they didn't anticipate the possibility of some animal being torn apart

Animals are there to be cute and meat comes in a packet from the supermarket.
Many people are disassociated from the real world these days.

Well to be fair I've had people in my class that were sure cows had feathers, milk came from the supermarket and similar oddities

So, the random fact of the day...

October 13th is (at least in Finland) the International Day for Failure, AKA The Fail Day!

 :o

 :-\

 :D

Happy failing everyone!

This complete failure of information brought to you by Completely Random Smurf with Aleph!

Wait, then...why did you not actually post something failed on Finnish Fail Day? I mean, and introduction like that and I was quietly leaning back to see what would come of the day. It passed without a whimper.
Not even a post, Like falling off your bike or painting over a window?
Or, did you just FAIL to post anything at all?

you're starting to practice it?

I wish, but a friend of mine did about 15 years ago, it's a fascinating art

His brother practised Wing Chun for a while, also rather interesting martial art

I did learn some things  ;)

That's great. I find the grappling martial arts to be more friendly for me and my lack of coordinated flexibility

Apparently the people who said Russia in winter is bad haven't put much thought into how bad is northern Europe
