NOVEMBER CHALLENGE IS SIGNAL.. FORGET 111MM
  :like: :like: :like: :like:

I don't see many peeps joining in. (Offer a Spirit with scissors as a prize and I might...) Maybe want to stick with the 111mm.

I voted for the Signal,  but I like it and it hasn't gotten a lot of attention the last few months.  I think you're right though.  Not many of us have a Signal, or at least haven't made it known if anyone else does.  There may be enough of us though.

ME AND YOU DO CHALLENGE

Can't remember where it was asked (will have to dig it up maybe) but the Wave/Charge scissors can replace the large bit driver.
It is tight but the handles can close and be locked.
Removing the blade safety lock should make more room and allow the phillips to fit in as well if wanted.

I have a Signal on its way. I'm planning to put a Wave scissors inside. I will document and take pics when it works. There was a discussion in the Mod section a while ago but we never reached a conclusive answer. If the Wave scissors mod have been done, I missed that thread...

I am also going to copy what Monrogue has done by adding the Wave file. I am tempted to see if a Wave straight edge blade will fit.

Cheers,

Pete

The Wave blade can work with the pivot but the symmetrical grind rubs the awl a little more.
If it was me I would replace or fix the awl.
Can opener out and cut down ST300 awl in maybe.

Mmm, I do like that.

Does the blade fit and work seamlessly?

I will see what options are available for inside tools once the Signal arrives.

Zoid: I agree dump the opener and leave or mod the awl.

Cheers,

Pete

With this setup i could be interrested, but it's gonna be too expensive.

I will stay with my OG wave.

For what it's worth...

I'm looking at how far out on the blade the cutting is being done (to avoid the serrations) in that first picture.

Seems to me like the serrations go almost half way.

Yeah so it looks awkward using the outer part of the blade when you need plain edge.

True,
But my guess is that it makes it easier to perform precise cutting with the tip, while you can stil cut cordage with the serrations.
To me it looks like the most logical setup, although the serrated part could have been shorter IMHO.

It's a posed pic, nobody really holds and cuts like that, or they shouldn't anyway.

Serrations are approx 24mm, plain edge is approx 42mm.

For those who have a Signal AND a MUT, can you please post a pic with the blades open side by side? Any chance that a MUT blade will fit in there?

Cheers,

Pete

I don't own one but I do like it. The biggest problem (as many have already discussed) is the price. Which is why I don't own one.
