Telstar Multi-Wrench
on: May 19, 2016, 04:09:53 PM
Recently I acquired my first pocketwrench II which found its home in my EDC bag and DIY Grid It system (more on that later).  While waiting for the wife in the nail salon, I stumbled over to the knock-off Dollar Store, the Dollar King.  Came across this little gem for $1.49 plus tax - Telstar Multi Purpose Wrench.  I don't think it's going to unseat the PW2, but it could very well end up standing next to it.  Just carrying it in a back pocket for now, but may find it's way into a bike saddle bag.

Stated as 2.0mm thick on the website.  Measured about 4 3/4" long x 1 5/8" wide.

Interesting. Even if it sucks, for $1.50 who cares? Is that little spur on the lower right a cap-lifter?

There are two hooks on the tool that notch in to a couple of different sized lock rings. I think one of the correct terms for them is "C-ring wrench".

That's actually pretty cool!  And for the price, well worth it!

Wonder if chains in my area like Dollar General will carry these.  This looks like one of those bargain bin tools that is cheap enough to try out, and looks like it might be good, but if it fails, I'm only a buck fifty in the hole.

If that happens, sell it on Craigslist for $10!  :P

Wait .... so such wrenches are new to you US guys?

I have about a dozen of those in my garage probably 20-30+ years old, you may call it vintage and rare if you wish. :P

These always came with various bicycle repair kits.

Same here in Finland, around 80's and 90's those were everywhere. I recall having at least 3 at some point, not quite sure if I still have one in my toolbox...
