They would secretly wish it was theirs ;)

Yes, that's why they would stop Dan and take his bike away; jealousy.  ;)

Are the machetes really that pricey outside the US? Those are Cold Steel's cheapest products here it seems.

And I don't think they're even made here. My Heavy Machete was made in South Africa if I recall.

Cost wide they are not too bad in South Africa; although you can get similar Lasher branded one for even cheaper. (Lasher makes them for Colt Steel as far as I can tell)

At the cheapest shop I know in Europe, the Gladius Machete is 47 Euros (53 USD) . At Knifecenter it's 32 USD.

It's $27 at Amazon. This is actually much more expensive than their other machetes I've looked at. The kukri one was $10 less last time I checked.

Often they don't ship to Europe and if they do shipping will be incredible high (like 50$).
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Amazon.de has the latin machete at 32.80 euros and the Gladius at 47.88. But good luck getting them to ship it

Well, here's my only CS blade;

Heavy Machete. I (ab)use it for yard work. It has seen a lot of hard use over the years, but keeps on truckin'. I once used it to hack up the 3' stump of a tree with an old wire fence grown into it. There were many metal on metal impacts, but no damage I couldn't sand or file off.
The lanyard is new. It's just for hanging.

Here is a one of a kind Cold Steel Spartan I have dubbed the "Fresno Felon".  It is what remained after Bladeforum's Charlie Mike hit it with a grinder.

Great products that have always had defensive use in mind. Lynn Thompson is kind of a blowhard, but he's made a gazillion dollars, so I guess it works. I think that a lot of people buy the knives because of the advertising and then find out they actually work. I've owned a few (none currently) and truly liked them, but just couldn't carry almost two feet of folder anymore :-\

Yeah - in my view a lovable blowhard.  You just gotta enjoy videos of a chubster hacking at a bag of swinging meat.

Honestly, most of the CS videos just don't sit well with me end push me away from the brand.

I can get most of them easily and at good prices cause my local Vic dealer is also a CS dealer and the prices are in line with the US ones which is uncommon for Europe. But I never got past that initial feeling about the brand, too tacticool for me mostly.

I only own one CS knife, the Canadian Belt Knife I got from Al a while back and quite like it, but that still hasn't made me order any more.

Cold Steel does have a few things going for it.  The Tri-Ad lock is probably the strongest on the market, which is no small matter for those who really hard-use their blades (I don't).  And few if any makers produce giant blades like the XL size Recon 1, Voyager, etc., and certainly not at that price.  Their prices were even more killer when they were still using AUS-8 steel.  I do love their big blades just for the wow factor, though they are not particularly practical for EDC.

That CS belt knife is really a decent knife...esp for the price.

I also have a few Cold Steel spears. I am very happy they came with their Secure-Ex sheaths, as these come very sharp. I wouldn't like to have them hang above me with the naked blade uncovered.

This is the boar spear.

I do not think I could count that high.

A friend asked me if I could look after her 3 year old for a few hours. I was going to say yes until I realized all the sharps within easy reach of a 3 year old that my house contained. That thought scared me, and it would take a long time to kid proof my house...it wasn't worth the hassles. Luckily, she found someone quickly after I was forced to decline the offer.

Back in the late 90's I collected Cold Steel had to sell most  for bills. Here's some of what I have left.  It's good to see I'm not the only spear chucker here.
