Huge Help on Letherman Sidekick Re-assembly
on: June 03, 2016, 11:01:16 PM
Hi, I have a Letherman Sidekick, I had to dismount it for a deep cleaning (it was hard to be opened because very dirty) and I didn't worry to take pictures while disassembly the parts because I thought it was not necessary by the simplicity of the design, but while i was dismount it, many washers from any thickness came out and now this is the issues, I don't remember anymore WHERE the washers fit the properly place, so I am asking to someone you an huge help.

I got this 3 different type of washers :
3 low thick
2 medium thick
2 big thick

you may help me by watching the picture I added and direct me by letters and numbers, for example if the washer number 1 goes in A in the front or A2 for the rear hole, or another example the washer 5 in B2 in the rear hole or B in the front as visible in the picture.

I know that this topic should be mentioned as  but I wuold really need to replace my tool as soon and as well, I tried to search for some tutorial but I didn't find nothing.

Thanks in advance !!!

Manuel

I will be no help on this as I have never taken a Sidekick apart but I guess you now know that it is best to either take pics as you go or write down the placement of the parts and washers as you go :D Hopefully one of our fantastic modders will be along and can get you going in the right direction and can get your tool back together

Looking at my Sidekick

1&2 go between the two handle pieces opposite the pivot of the saw & knife blade
6&7 go with the plier head and handles
4  with the two screw drivers as a spacer
3&5  are for the knife and saw blade pivots

I may have 1&2 and 3&5 switched but you should be able to tell when fitting them. The thinner of the two will be for the plier head.

Got it !!!
Really appreciated help and very precious, so many thanks to all you here.
By the way, if another would reach my same issue, as following the letters and numbers, this is the fine sequence :
> 1 and 2 , exacly as shown in the pic, fit between K - L and M - J as an hamburger.
> 3 and 5 fit in exacly D and C, where then you can place E and F.
> 4 fit between N and K .
> 6 and 7 ,exacly as shown in the pic, must be placed in between A2 - B2 and D2 - C2, facing the opposite side of the saw-knife blade.

Many Thanks, great and fast help, no really words to expalin thankfulness.
Have nice time
