RiutBag

Anyone else got one of these? I ordered the R15 model about a month ago and it just arrived. I'll share some impressions in the next few days after its had some use. So far, I'm pleased that the bottle side pockets can take a 591 ml (20 US fl oz) insulated Klean Kanteen bottle with swing-top lid.

The main gimmick of this bag is that the only way in is through the back panel, so its great if you're the sort of person who worries that someone could be stealing stuff from your bag whilst you are wearing it. Obviously geared towards urban use. It was originally funded as a Kickstarter after being designed by someone here in the UK who was not completely satisfied with the backpack options available.

I've had a bit more of a play with the bag today, and I'm quite pleased with what I have seen so far.

The bottle pockets do not stick out of the side of the bag, which produces a sleek profile and means the bottle is unlikely to fall out of the pocket. I have attached a picture of the KK inside the one of the bottle pockets.

The downside of the design is that the bottle pockets take space out of the inside of the bag. The laptop compartment nicely fits a 2012 13-inch MacBook Pro, and the elastic retaining straps are a nice touch.

In addition to the main compartment, there is a smaller pocket above which I expect would fit pretty much any smartphone in it (91mm SAK included for scale).

Generally, the build quality and choice of materials is good (including the use of some neoprene and additional waterproofing of the bottom of the bag - presumably to offer some protection if put on wet ground).

Pretty interesting. Definetly fits a pretty specific Niche. But cool nonetheless!!

I did an overnight trip with the bag and it went pretty well. Just enough space for my laptop, entire washbag (which was overkill, but I was too lazy to re-pack a sub-set of it) pyjamas, change of clothes, laptop and phone chargers, LM Surge, 591ml (20 fl.oz US) KK insulated and (surprisingly) 946ml (32 fl.oz US) KK insulated in the side pockets.
