seriously, that is pretty close to the perfect set of 93mm scales right there.

God knows what I'd sell to get hold of a pair of them.

Hey if you really want to get everyone's attention, make some 3mm and 2.5mm pivots. You'd have cash flowing out the wazoo!
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?

Out of what material?  Solid pins or tapped?  Currently, Im finding that the hardened stainless pivots are great for the harder main blade side and brass for the softer implements for good action. Lately, I have been doing .126 reamed on all tools and springs but Im seriously considering 3mm pins all around since the springs are quick to ream and have less movement anyway. Reaming and honing all the tools is time consuming! Next week, If my schedule permits I will be playing around and making custom phos. bronze pivots instead of c360 brass. I also want to work on a custom 440c heat treated awl. Kind of a cross between the old style awl and the marlin spike. And then... maybe ... just maybe I'll start working on my flipper blade design... To many things!!

15mm long x Ø3mm phosphor bronze or nickel silver with M2 tapped through hole would be perfect. :tu:

It would need to be hardened stainless of some sort. After awhile brass or nickel silver would distort and be unusable. These have been on the want list almost since the first mods here at mto.

I was able to finish this project up today.  I made some .020 thick nickel silver liners to keep the tweezer, pen and toothpick in place. The plastic pull nubs needed to be modified to fit the contour of the 93mm. Heres a pic of the corner rounding end mill cutting the pen and toothpick with a scrap aluminum scale as a clamp.

A little deburring required and everything fits pretty decent. The pen slot needed to be smaller by a couple thou. However, I just bent the pen slightly and it stays in really nice. The toothpick snaps into its little groove.

Overall very pleased how this prototype went! Just a few small adjustments needed for next time, if there is such. :)

Fantastic work!

Just a question though - are there any legal issues with reproducing manufacturer's logos? I'm guessing if you are selling them there could be?

I would love to see the Marlin spike reproduced.
One of my favorite implements.

Plus the addition of scales tools is incredible.

Silver new shield can be found on eBay on occasion.
Then old cross show up everyone in awhile.
Then there is what Swiss Bianco has left.

Victorinox still sells them... sadly only in Ibach at their factory store... but that is all good it means they are 10% off the original sales price. IIRC they run somewhere around 50$ for a First Mate.
It wouldn't be the internet without people complaining.

Still trying to pick up all my teeth after my jaw dropped to the floor seeing all these beautiful scales.

Those ribbed cadet scales with the triangular shield are truly breathtaking. I've owned ribbed Cadet & Cadet II models. Luv the ribs. I've always wondered why Victorinox hasn't brought back a limited edition of the ribbed design. Now, there's no need.

Actually, there's something even more about the finish of these custom scales, polished/refined, solid. No longer multitools. Now, multitool "instruments" (à la Rolex, Montblanc, Cartier, etc...).

The new MacGyver series should feature some of these.

Thank you, Roland_KT. Your work has certainly kicked customization up to a whole new level, at least cosmetically, imo.

So do folks from the US buy them from the factory store and have them shipped over seas?
I just picked one up from Swiss Bianco, but yikes, doubt I will do too many of them at that price.

Today I was able to break away to make a few spring tempered phosphor bronze liners for my next build.  Im hoping in the next few weeks I can get all the tooling ready to make some 3mm and 2.5mm Stainless pivots!

I decided to machine up some cadet patterned Timascus scales.  What tools should I pair with this oddity?

This week I also made a few bladeless Saks with some mods I have not done before.

Phosphor bronze Mag frame finished today on the mill. Spring tension on the lens.

In a bladeless Sak.

Thats all I got!

Oh and Pivots someday soon! :)
