I happened upon a Garberg in a shop on Saturday... Retail price, €140

They were cool enough to let me handle the thing. Feels heavy-ish, definitely feels solid and this includes the, seemingly pretty comfortable, handle. Thick spine, edge ground very well except one tiny spot right at the tip but no big issue!

I am really considering getting one but not at that price, no. I wish it came with a clip point, though  :dd:

With all the Mora love going on here lately, how is it that there is no Mora club yet?

I'll do it if no one else does but we've just been imposing by throwing things up in Grathr's "New Moras" thread for a couple of years...

Grathr, do you want to start the new thread?

I happened upon a Garberg in a shop on Saturday... Retail price, €140

They were cool enough to let me handle the thing. Feels heavy-ish, definitely feels solid and this includes the, seemingly pretty comfortable, handle. Thick spine, edge ground very well except one tiny spot right at the tip but no big issue!

I am really considering getting one but not at that price, no. I wish it came with a clip point, though  :dd:

Was there a little flat spot on either side at the very tip?

Yes, I guess you can say that. It seemed like the last burr-to-be on one side wasn't removed in the end. I don't think it affects cutting quality though.

Thank you for the links. These two look like they can do some serious work but, for one reason or another, I think they aren't what I'm looking for in a knife. Handle shape/material, blade profile yadda yadda yadda... Looks can be deceptive of course so I'd need to test them in vivo to make sure :D

Here's one that caught my attention (not really a clip point, I know ) :
