The Alox Line is Safe!
on: September 10, 2008, 09:26:40 PM
Just in case the news hasn't spread, a member of SOSAK asked Vic about the future of the alox knives and received this response:

"We will keep the production of the current soldier knife and the alox series, don't worry."

That's good news...I'm still glad I bought a bunch of them recently anyway.  They are great knives.

I can't imagine how it could be in Wenger's best interest to continue to sell the SI, can you?  I suppose it is best not to assume though.

OK I am not the greatest of the swiss knife, but I would hate to see the alox models go I only own two SAKs but one is the farmer wich I really need to get modded out. I would love the nailfile on the sportsman II and a serr. blade.

This is good news indeed  :D Now I wonder  Now the Alox range is out of the Military contract production maybe Vic will think about a version with scissors .

+1.

But Vic could also have made an alox scissors model before now if they had wanted too, couldn't they?

From what I gather from Scibeer's great scissors mods, they would need to at least create a new backspring as the 91mm scissors have the hook on the other side.

A Soldier with scissors would be a great seller though...

I wonder what would happen ( and this may have already been done ) if someone sent a modded Alox with Scissors like Scibeer's  into Vic with a letter explaining this is what the people want . Must be sent to Vic Switzerland and not U.S otherwise it will fall on deaf ears.

That's a very interesting question.

I can tell you first hand that they are not very receptive to a single person's letter. Even if Scibeer wrote to tell them that he had sold 500 of those models, they would likely respond with a stock reply like, "I am sorry but we have no plans to produce that model," or "Thank you for your feedback. It is very valuable to us."

That is why I set up the petition for 84mm scissors. They weren't really interested in discussing that issue with one lone person, even if I claimed that others were also very interested. So I am hoping a few more signatures might get their attention.

So should I set up another petition...?  :D
