I always wanted to try this Les Stroud trick
on: June 24, 2016, 09:53:00 AM
Les Stroud opens coconuts and finds a solid mass inside of them. It's like a big onion, except it is coconut.  Well, I've opened up dozens of coconuts over the years and never found one with a solid center.  I open green coconuts for the liquid or brown coconuts for the meat.  I figured out what Les Stroud was doing that I wasn't.  He opens sprouted coconuts.  I finally got a chance to try that.  The solid mass was in there.  It was the texture of soft, squishy, Styrofoam.  It reminded me of the green foam used by florists except it was white and tasted like coconut.  I also planted the sprout in my yard so I'll have another coconut palm tree in a few years.

Ah man I envy you. Ever since I saw Les do it I wanted to try that, but around here its not going to happen. Getting a sprouted coconut would be near impossible to find as far as I know.

Try one that is only just starting to sprout. A ball half that size is so much nicer to eat. It's been years since I've had one.   :gimme:   :gimme:

Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob

You said that right! Finding fresh coconuts are hard enough.
If I remember correctly, wait, what was I saying?
