Les does make a good show...so long as he doesn't try to do anymore merchandising

Which reminds me of my newest acquisition....

We just started watching Dual Survival and so far (three or four episodes in) I really am finding it interesting.

I like that Dave and Cody have very different ways of getting the same things done, and while they may disagree and doubt each other, neither are too egotistical to pretend they aren't impressed when something works.

One thing that keeps popping into my mind while watching though, is that Cody is one massively BIG smurfing hippie!  The amount of calories that must be needed to maintain someone that size must keep these guys hopping!

I really liked the first 2 seasons.  After that it gets really really bad.

Dave and Cody were a great team.  Two very different schools of thought however same goals.  I do think in many cases Dave was trying to.........  how do I say this..............  show boat.

Matt was a great addition to the show.  Beyond that the last couple of guys were interesting to say the least.  The military dude fell off the planet.  What the heck happened to him?

Josh James was also great.  I would have liked to see more of him.

I haven't watch the show since the Dave and Cody days and I do think Dave was trying to do a bit of show boating too but I liked watching them two.

I knew there was a few replacements over time but didn't realize that the show is still on or isn't it?  :)

Not sure if its still on

Grady and Josh were the last two and Grady had some "issues" and fell off the planet other than some FB posts.

Joe as many know has had some credibility issues and some other issues.

Thing is I'm not sure why they don't just bring Cody and Matt back and pair them with the vast amount of other military guys our there who are legit.

I hope they put another show on of this type whether it is Dual Survival, Les Stroud or whatever they name it as I think it can give us some great information.

Now if they just give a guy a sak and maybe a fixed blade so we can see how well that would work!  :)

I am enjoying the show so far, but it is still Dave and Cody.  I wasn't sure what to think of Cody in the beginning, as I thought the barefoot thing while trying to survive in Nova Scotia  in the winter was a really, really dumb idea.

Having seen a number of episodes in different places I am impressed at how well he is keeping up in bare feet and shorts.  Of course, I did notice that he did fashion a pair of sandals once from a car tire, so that he could walk through the desert.  It amused me that he needed sandals for a warm climate but went barefoot in the snow.

Dave seems ok, but he's a bit too "manly man" for me.  I would think that in a survival situation one would be more inclined to eat bugs or whatever comes along, rather than turning almost everything down that isn't red meat.

If you look at Dave Canterbury now I don't think you'd recognise him as being the same bloke on Dual Survival.  Now, is that because it's several years in the past and he's changed his attitude or is it perhaps the fact that he was simply playing the role the producers of the show wanted him to play?  I'm inclined to think the latter. ;)

I like the practical approach of Cody and Dave pairs. You can actually learn something from the episodes of these two guys. I especially dislike Joe. Too much show off the macho side, and being schooled by Cody for a few times. Matt Graham was sucking to Joe so much, the show became "Joe's adventure and a sidekick named Matt". I stopped watching the show before both Joe and Matt got fired. I did try to watch an episode with two newer guys afterward, but honestly could not stand them and their personalities.

While watching a few more episodes of Dave and Cody I have developed a new drinking game.  Take a drink every time Dave says "mechanical injury."

It amazes me that a guy concerned about mechanical injury would try cutting into a beehive to try and get some honey.

I watched that one last night.

Intentionally carving himself open was one of the dumbest things I have seen on TV ever, especially considering that he did it just so he could fill the hole with gunpowder and ignite it to close it up.  You would think that it would only be a matter of time before they cut themselves legitimately and could demonstrate this technique then.

Doing it on purpose just to experience the cauterising effects of the gunpowder really makes me seriously doubt the sanity of Dave Canterbury.  It also makes me wonder if anyone should consider anything learned from him as valid, considering the dumb things he does.

Not sure why this happened and who was the brainless child who came up with it.  I can say this was pretty outrageous and incredbily he was terribly hurt.

Going after the bees was clearly not something Cody was for however I'm sure when the producers looking on said "great ratings guys go with it", Cody said WTF.

I cannot imagine Dave was without the same "encouragement" from producers.  Not taking any responsibility away from him mind you.

From what I've read and seen, I think Cody's approach was probably the best.  I am in no way skilled enough to argue anyones technique but he seemed ( Cody ) like he genuinely  was trying to convey a realistic approach.
