So I really don't like vertical sheaths, and I don't like messing with flaps on sheaths either, so I've been making my own sheaths for my Multitools for horizontal belt carry.
Here's one for the Leatherman Original Wave
One for the Leatherman Original Supertool

The Wave sheath is made out of one piece of kydex. I folded it around the tool, heating the kydex with a heat gun before bending. Once the tool was fully wrapped, I put the rivets in to keep the retention set, then folded the belt loops. All cuts were made with a coping saw. Used a flap wheel in a dremel tool to clean up the edges.
On the Supertool sheath, I took a different design approach. I cut the initial shape out with some shears, cutting it a little big to allow some sanding. I still heated the kydex with a heat gun and made one fold at a time. I was pretty happy with the retention, so I heated another piece of kydex in a toaster oven and molded it around a belt to make the loops. I cut these out and drilled a hole to set the rivets. This design was much easier to get rivets set compared to the one piece design. I finished it off with the same flap wheel. I've carried it for a couple of weeks now and haven't had a problem with the retention. Ah, the joys of kydex.
I don't have a tutorial, but I have a new style Wave coming that I intend to mod. After mod, I'll make a sheath for it. The Wave will be tricky because of the inner tool lock. I'll try to make a tutorial then.

By the way, this is the set of dies that I'm using to set the rivets.
