Light is Dying on Casio W70. Can It Be Saved?
on: June 28, 2016, 07:56:41 PM
I have a Casio W70 (precursor to F-91W) and when I press the button for the light, the screen goes blank. Is the light feature history or is it maybe a new battery is needed?
I knew my wife was a keeper when she transitioned from calling it a knife thingy to a multi-tool.

Do you have any dealership nearby? Maybe you can go in and ask them, maybe even try another battery before buying a new one.

The first sign of a low battery is what you described.
Most likely in need of a battery.

99% that this is a sign that a new battery is required.
100% if the watch runs fine without the light button being pressed.

If you change the battery yourself take care with the battery release catch/latch and watch out for migrating springs when you remove the back!

I agree with everyone else.  It sounds like a dead battery.

And no, I'm not just saying that to sound smart.  :P

I opened up the back of the watch last night to get the battery out and it takes a thinner battery (cr2016) and all I have are cr2032's. I put one in and the watch worked but it wouldn't clear the case. doh

That's why I only want automatic or solar. No even wind-up ones anymore.

Cr2016 solves the problem in a lot of G-shock, so that's not a big problem! :)
