If you are getting it from Tim (FelineVet), you might decide to splurge on the boxed set, including a farmer (selver, red, or blue) paired up with AA flashlight in a nice presentation tin. Don't worry if you don't see it on his site. I am prety sure he has a few of those. Las time I saw them, it was $30 for a set, including US shipping. Can't get much better than that!

Speaking as an "older gent" (52), with bunged up hands from bad jobs and the beginnings of arthur, I would say Farmer. An extra layer helps the grip , for me anyway.

Or go "one up" and get one of the Scibeer  HAIII series ;)

What about buying him a Tinker or a Spartan? I think that would be quite adequate!

I like the alox scales because it has a vintage and classy look to them.  They'll also hold up better. The most he would need would be what it is the Pioneer, but the saw might make for a nice little extra. Also, it would give him more gripping surface...and he has big hands.

So, Farmer it is....but I'm looking at Pioneer for myself.,,or maybe a Farmer.  :D

I have a blue Farmer I've been carrying with a pocket of loose change to get that broken in look faster!

I love those old alox. The plain cross just looks so classy.

When was the alox with the 'pointy shield' made?
