Very cool removable compartment organizer. Great for the modders.

I absolutely love organizing trays, racks, cases. I have been kicking around the idea of getting a few of the stanley cases, but they were all to deep and not enough small trays so I forgot about it. Yesterday I came across a video on Tested and saw a Stanley branded organizing case, but with removable trays, more small compartments, and not as deep. Add the very reasonable price tag ($11.25) and i'm sold. They are similar to the Sortimo cases (except not $60 + each) as seen in the Adam Savage storago video which I will link below. Ever since I saw that video I drooled over some removable tray cases and now they have a affordable substitute. These should be ideal for the modders on the forum or just anyone who wants to organize...... well anything really. If you order 3 of them it comes up just short of the $35 minimum for free shipping if you do not have prime. If you really look you can find things for $1.99 that are prime eligible to add to your order to push it just over $35. I will report back once I get mine.  :tu:

Skip to the 1 minute mark for the cases.

Original Sortimo video that got me wanting a removable organizing case.

If you go to the product and go to the 5 star rating and look at the first review he shows how well they work for Lego. I know we have some Lego nuts on the forum.

I thought this would get more of a response. More organizing for me then.  :D

I just ordered a Stanley Sortmaster, because I think the customizable compartment sizes are more in line with my needs right now. That kind with the removable bins will probably come in handy when I finally stop procrastinating and organize all my nuts and bolts, etc.
But not just yet...

Don't know if was a thread at BLF or a video on YT, but the Harbor Freight ones are cheaper and if I remember correctly good enough.

I just watched a video about a comparison between the Sortimo, Stanley, Harbor Freight, and another brand. Consensus was Harbor Freight was terrible and only a few dollars less than the Stanley. Not saying the guy is right, but I personally rather have the Stanley. Well I rather have the Sortimo, but that's not going to happen.

If anyone is interested.

Nice storage setups, particularly the Sortimo ones. :tu:

I use a Raaco system for my parts, like this:

http://www.raaco.com/productsdetails-1122.aspx?ProductID=136242&VariantID=

Each individual box looks like this:

I think they're a little smaller than the Stanley, but they come as a 4-pack with the carrying case, and they link together.  You can get them for about £40/set in the UK, which compares quite well to the Stanley ones.

I bought this Stanley FatMax before Christmas to tidy up my ‘big nuts an bolts’
It’s deep and well made  :tu:

If you are after some shallow small parts containers here in the UK,
Every now and then Screwfix has this set for 9.99
It might be worth waiting until they are on sale again and grabbing a set or two

  • Smurf it!
I use the black and decker version, I bought 10 of these a year ago in an auction for next to nothing

I have 2 sets (8 containers) of those (rebranded, I think) and I store my misc. shop stuff there (wall plugs, screws, hooks, furniture small parts, electric installation parts...) They rock for that purpose.
In my (bike)shop I use open sorting containers with a wall hanging system or on shelves to keep the small bits organized.

My memory never serves me well, but from the what I remember (and it is very little) the one I saw was a little different. But from what I see there are plenty of options. Thanks for the video cap!!! Really appreciate it  :salute:

Looks great!

My problem isn't the sorting of things, it's the keeping those things sorted!

Looks awesome! Thanks for sharing. I brought out my sorting cases recently and have been wanting to build a rack for them.
