Yes they range widely in size, the kadet is the smallest, its about 16" wide by 8" tall maybe.   The MINI buran is a pretty good size in my opinion.  And they go up to laughably big.  Ive been using the Buran every day for 3 years now , air plane twice a week,  and throw San Francisco / Los Angeles.  It is still in great condition. And I am not careful with my stuff.

Plus it locks shut. All for the low, low price of $150. Until the sale ends in two days and it goes up to $190.

Why should only women be able to tote around cool toys without going for a full size backpack or duffel bag?  :D

I should say one thing I like about chrome bags is that they sit tightly against your back if desired. A help if you trying to run or whatever.

I've used a Maxpedition Colossus since 2010 I think?  so 6 years or so. Yes you can call it a purse or a murse whatever....my girlfriend does from time to time but thats ok. She understands why I like the shoulder bag for urban EDC.

I carried my Colossus every day in college, (never carried my text books really)  and it has served me very well. The stitching in one pocket is starting to go but is easily repaired. The bag has traveled to Germany and Austria and has gone on most state side road trips I've been on.

The shoulder bag is not one I would carry into the woods. its just not appropriate for long distant or rough ground travel.  I've recently acquired a Maxpedition Typhoon double strap pack and its the best upgrade I could ever think of. But its kind of like a kindergartners pack type size....small but fantastic in its capacity and utility.

Be careful!

In USA you MUST carry a tactical monster shoulder bag like a Maxpedition Versipack or so, or you masculinity will be questioned

Anything smaller will be called murse.

Real men don't carry purses :p

Ironic mode on

P.s.: Carry that in Europe and you will have all numbers to be asked for a register (tactical=terrorist)

I wonder too.

Anyway, just to be included in the conversation, real men have an Y chromosome in their genome. That's a sound medical fact.

Real men do whatever they think is practical, and don't worry about fashion. Whether the fashion gurus insist they should use manly men stuff from Maxpedition or calf skin briefcases sewn by Italian virgins under the full moon doesn't make much difference to me. :)

So I happily carry shoulder bags which are slim and lightweight.  :multi:

I wonder why they chose the letter Y for the male chromosome  Seems fitting :P

Yes, a little bit. They don't quite look like X and Y, if I remember correctly (but I can't seem to pass up a good chance of being silly, anyhow: fitting, get it? Haaha-ha-ha-haha :D)

Both look like X during mitosis, X capital the autosome and x lowercase the phyletic. They are both called phyletic btw but the X is also autosomic in fact, since we can't live without it and that's why men need to carry that too. People with X0 and XXX and XXY exist, but not with Y0. Anyway, one branch of the x is so small that looks merged with its clone and the whole looks like Y. But the fact is that Nettie Stevens called it Y, because it is the next letter to X which Hermann Henking used to describe the X he discovered some years ago (1880 X, 1905 Y). She just followed the existing nomenclature.
Also, the letter Y is called Ypsilon or I Grecum in many languages. It is a letter Greeks invented (added to the Phoenician alphabet to make the Greek) that has symbolic meanings. It is related to water and containted to many words related to water and water containers (Ύδωρ is water in Greek), but also with male and female. As Y it resembles the female genitalia and inverted (think the Mercedes Benz emblem) the male genitalia (errected smurf).
The small case Υ, which is written υ, looks like and is used like a Latin and German V,  pronounced as v, f or i, according to its relation with neighbor letters.

I had this one built a few years ago by Ghillie Dhu Leathercraft in Scotland. The DofE is there for scale. The shoulder strap is removable, and there is a large belt loop at the top, so it can be worn as a possibles pouch.

Edit: Added a couple more pics:
Pic 2: Size comparison with my large Skinth
Pic 3: Contents of that Skinth
Pic 4: Still not full  ;)

I really ought to use this more often.....

Meh, I've offered to carry my girlfriends purse enough on the rare occasion we find ourselves at the mall and she is trying stuff on etc to not really care what others think. Besides I could care less what strangers thinks....its only your true friends you have to worry about spotting you and giving you flack lol
