So this badge is a real easy one for me as I always carry a flashlight with me. Usually it's a single CR123 or AAA, but sometimes I like to stick a single 18650 lumen blaster in my pocket. Funny how quickly things change, as 1000 lumens isn't really that much anymore, with all those multi-emitter monstrosities being cranked out now — but those are hardly EDC friendly. Here's today's carry, a Nitecore EC20, which I really like. The only fault I have with it is that it doesn't take flat top batteries. I like the UI a lot, maybe even better than ZebraLight. When I first got started with flashlights, I got a couple of the tactical forward clicky tailswitch guys like the Nitecore P12 and Fenix PD32. It took me some time to realize the electronic switches really are a lot better for EDC use, since they typically offer direct access to the lowest mode. I find the 1 lumen low on the EC20 to be good enough, usually 0.5 to 1 is my preferred output. The 960 lumen max is more than enough, and I like that it has SOS and beacon modes in addition to strobe. Anyway, here's my pic of the EC20 with some friends...
Thanks for looking!
