Doing a bit of swapping the gracious SteveC :salute: traded me the diamond file he made for the Rebar in this thread

http://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,67481.0.html

I got the file that SteveC made this past Monday and am just now getting around to putting pics of it

I have now about as close to what I want out of the Reabr as possible :dd: :D I have put in scissors, added a diamond file and sharpened the can opener to make it more of a package cutter

Taking a cue from SteveC himself I thought this shot was appropriate ;)

I am thoroughly pleased with the Rebar and will happily strap it to my belt Monday August 1st :D

Excellent mods Poncho - nice work sir  :salute:

I too like to have scissors on things. You might remember I went through a phase of adding them to Kicks a while back:

Although the picture is old, I keep this one in my suitcase (which has clocked up a few miles in recent years) and its helped me out of no end of scrapes.

I made this one for Nuphoria:

This one I made for Ducktapehero to his specification as a giveaway prize on here too - I remember making that awl from a screwdriver - it was razor sharp and drew blood, lol.

I used to come here a lot.

All very nice Dave  It is amazing all the configurations and different tools that will fit in a Kick :o I wished LM would go the route SOG has and allow you to buy the tools you want in one or at the least customize your own LM :dd:

I especially like the one you have made for yourself but that awl is awlfully nice on DTH's :tu:

Sorry for bumping an old thread... Thought I’d share my experience here...

Like most, I wanted to replace the lanyard ring on my Rebar with scissors. So last night I went ahead with the mod. Decided on a slightly different tool layout. I placed the opener next to the PE blade instead of being next to the file. Sitting next to the file is the large SD/Scrapper. Did this because:

1. The opener nail nick was inaccessible if it were to sit next to the file. and
2. There would be a problem If I use the opener to open cans as the handle would be in the way.

But once assembled, I noticed that my rebar wouldn’t completely close. There’s a small gap.

Turns out that the large sd was preventing it from completely closing. So I did a little modification by tapering the width.

Before...

After...

Here’s how it looks now in closed position... Notice that the top edge of the large SD sits kinda flush with the other tools...

After sorting that out, I would think that my rebar would now close completely... I was wrong... The scissor thumb rest is resting on top of the plier locking mechanism riveted to the handle...

So I grunded the thumb rest a little...

Finally... My rebar can now completely close...

Here’s a pic of the final result...

Thanks Poncho and everyone in this thread... I probably would be clueless as to how to add scissors if it weren’t for your help...

Oh before I forget, here’s how the can opener would look in open position...

Odd that the scissor tab would interfere with the closing. The scissors on mine didn't do that

Okay, just looked at mine and the tab is a different shape. Got these from someone on the forum so I don't know what they came off off. They are different than the ones on my ne Wave and Blast which are the same as yours.

Excellent work jaya :like: I love old threads being bumped personally :tu: and I will have to check my scissors to see their shape tonight as I didn't have to modify mine either

The scissors tab didn’t also interfere on my knifeless WaBar Mod... maybe because it has the Wave plier head...

I remember a new and old charge comparisson shot displaying a difference in scissors tabs.
I'll look it up again.

Newer and cheaper scissor tab on left. Older and I think better made scissor tab found on a 2009 TTi on right.

It looks like the on the old style scissors  the bottom side of the tab was ground towards the tip tapering the thickness.

  old style on the left

I remember seeing that the scissor tab was changed sometime but I had forgotten until I saw the pic  :D Also great comparison pics and a great link as well :salute: :like:

I think mine look like the newer type scissors but they still don't interfere with the Rebar closing

The new ones are slimmer so my guess is that they have less chance to interfere after a mod.
