For a little bonus another made in China, Enlan..nothing bad to say about this one either,  at first i thought the tip up pocket clip would annoy me as i am not used to it but in reality its totally fine, i will carry it for a while and see how i get on with it, looking good so far though

I´m a fan of wood handles too. Gerber Freeman (pear) and Vx Hunter Pro (walnut).

If i was to whittle my collection down to 3 knives the Hunter pro would be one of them, i used to have problems with the Walnut irritating my skin but even then i couldn't resist picking it up  :D now all seems fine though and have no issues, very odd

Like the Gerber  :tu:

Three knives only? In that case the Hunter Pro would have to go, and the Gerber too. I would carry a hunting knife, but it would be a traditional, i.e. blade, saw, cap lifter, and corkscrew in a two layer knife with stag handles. This is my favorite knife pattern, has been for as long as I can remember. Some SAKs come very close, but I´m thinking of handmade in Solingen, e.g. Böker, Hubertus, or Puma.

In second and third places would be a MiniChamp, preferably alox, and my +B Carver SW.

My old Wenger farmers knife, Hunter pro and probably an Explorer for me Ron  :tu:

Peacent that's good to know, it certainly seems well built and it should be good enough for the jobs i don't particularly want my Sak to do, the Ganzo will be put in my collection and the Enlan will be a user  :tu:

That´s a nice blade. I never saw it before and I wondered about the name so I looked it up on the web. A knife for both field work and defense, they say. But in my mind´s eye I saw an army of angry fishermen.  :D :like:

The Huntsmen so far, until i test it completely, seems to be the perfect SAK for me and my outdoor world. The three Spanish made knives look interesting. Will be googling them shortly.  :tu:

I have heard excellent things about Spartan Blades' fixed knives, and their coating seems to be as tough as their full tang construction  :salute:

Hi! Bought them all this summer in a small souvenir shop in Mallorca.
I got no boxes or info about them but I believe that this is the maker:

Martiini MBL  :tu:  looks heavier than it is at 182g so not that bad,  the Hunter pro comes in at 162g and the Ctepx at 184, your 5.7 ouncer equates to around 161 so there's not really much in them, i too like a heavy knife but these are shelf queens from my collection, they will rarely get carried, sometimes i cant resist though, i'm sure people will understand  :D

I'm not mad keen on metal butts or bolsters so a planned future mod is to get rid of them, i think if i keep the same shape but in curly birch or Walnut it would look better..in my eyes anyway

Sterkh, MBL and Hunter pro, the three heavyweights nearest to hand  :salute:

Thanks Ray, Butch  :tu:

With wooden handled knives its preferable to see them first, as its a natural product the wood varies a lot, the Hunter pro from others i have seen are consistently good, i don't think i have ever seen a bad one, i have a couple of Wenger and Vic woods that are a bit peely wally, compared to the beautiful colour and grain of others, quality is still excellent though :tu:

The Birch on the MBL i have is nice enough but could be a whole lot nicer, compared to my Karesuando below it is a bit plain looking so i will be looking to sort that  :tu:

Oh, I agree! The Karesuando wins hands down it the wood department. Very nice, and that brings me to think I bought a knife from a maker who I’m not crazy about but the wood furniture was great and I bought it just for that reason.
