I have wondered if the Model 18 inspired Lile to make the Rambo knife.

I think the 18 got it's start somewhere around the Vietnam war.

Found this one in  fly shop I visited yesterday...they have a killer knife selection. Victorinox included. I think it was 8 cases long! He had a couple of Bowie’s also. And the wait list is closer to 4 to 5 years!

Yes on the war...a flight doctor? While flying in choppers to get the wounded the saw could cut the thin skin easily if they went down is what I had heard. The 18 was the first Randall that caught my eye that made me want one. I have given one of my other 18’s to my daughter. I think I gave her the SS one.  :cheers:

Found this one in  fly shop I visited yesterday...they have a killer knife selection. Victorinox included. I think it was 8 cases long! He had a couple of Bowie’s also. And the wait list is closer to 4 to 5 years!

The Spyderco shop down in Golden, CO had a few Randal's for sale when I was there.
Sal had some Randall there...nice!
Now I do know that if you order one and put a percentage down, you lock down the price to this year’s prices. So you will get it at a good price when you do get it. That is why they charge a premium when they do get them. Just depends how much 4 to 5 years is worth to you. If I had had the job income when I retired when I was younger, I would have been ordering maybe 4 a year.
