Well, here's an interesting one. COAST made a line of pocket knives named "Portor" that are essentially Wenger knives. The quality is top notch, and the tools are so close to Wenger tools, that I think Wenger must have sold Coast blanks. The only real differences are that there is more polishing of the tools on the coast knife - the edges are all slightly rounded. One of the scales attaches just like a 90s wenger scale, with the little clips on the outer liners. The other is special, as you'll see.

How similar are these tools?

Well, the main blade is identical to the clip point blade from a swissbuck. However, it is sharpened far differently. It's only sharpened on one side, and it's now a combo blade with very fine serrations at the back.

The saw is absolutely identical. It's not polished, and it is easy to see it's the same saw from a Wenger knife. Tooth count and shape is the same, and the nail nick is identical.

The scissors are the same. They're slightly more polished on the Coast, but they're obviously Wenger scissors. They cut through blister packaging just like Wenger scissors.

The cap lifter and can opener are the same. They're more polished on the Coast, and the coast has extra material missing on the can opener lower arm, but it's obvious they're made from the same blank.

The nail file is cool. Instead of a pointed file, they put a small screwdriver on the end. I've not seen a Wenger with this setup, but I like it very much. It's a useful size screwdriver, just a hair larger than the one on a Vic can opener.

The phillips drivers are the same. I can see no difference to speak of.

Tweezers are Victorinox tweezers, shortened to fit in the scale, with a slightly different profile head. If not for the length, I couldn't tell the difference between the tweezers. They appear identical. The bend is in the same place even.

The really cool part about this knife isn't that it's a near-perfect copy of a Wenger, with some mildly interesting tool variation. The fact is this knife HAS A MOTHERSMURFIN' LIGHTER as one of the scales. And it still works after all this time. I had to work the valves and filler to get stuff unstuck, but once I did I was able to fill it with lighter fluid and it fired right up. This thing is really cool. I paid $15 for it on the 'bay.

Charles.

Camper pattern by Adler Messer, Germany. Somewhat cheaper than Vic. Quality is quite good.

bit late to reply :
Quality is quite good because these Adlers were made with Victorinox parts.
So were a couple of GAKs
Montblancs are black, swiss army knives are red.

What Ron said.
They make more expensive victorinox and opinel knives, really.
The sak look ones are not as smooth in operation as the victorinox ones and cost more, but they look different. Available in many European countries and Amazon. Sandvic steel.

And now, for something really different : an Alox Sak-a-like I like ! (humor)

This knife is actually in my possession, it sneaked into my collection hidden amongst a lot of so-so Vic or Wenger.
Not badly built, actually. Most striking feature is this very odd can opener
If anyone has info on this brand, I would be very grateful for it.

Rost never?

Sounds like someone took the german name for rust and added "never"

In other words: stains never... stainless steel...

Just an FYI, that Coast knife I posted above? I got a similar model new in the packaging. Packaging states "Components from various countries, including Europe. Assembled in China" on the back. So it's very, very likely that the tools and liners are all Wenger parts.

I'm liking the Boker City Tool series.  Great alternative to Swiss for the money.

I'd love to get an older Aitor like this:

But bills come first, someday. Ya'll have turned me on to the nice quality "knock offs" and they're on the list now.

This gorgeous little 84mm "Tourist" copy has all the fruit. Round Awl, Exposed Rivets, lobster claw opener and as far as quality goes, if it had Victorinox stamped on the tang rather than Saphir, I think 99% of people couldn't pick it as a Sak-a-like.

Black Beautyesque Pradel. About 103mm long. Assuming emblem of Savoy rather than Swiss cross.

In case anyone else is looking to create connections, I also found a reasonable quality knife that is "referencing" the Victorinox patterns with "Rost Never" on the blade: https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,27753.msg2449362.html#msg2449362.
