Many of you won't know me, but between 2008 and 2010 I spent a lot of time on this forum, made a lot of friends and bought quite a lot of multitools.....

For various reasons (lack of work and one specific cause to which I've devoted most of my free time in the last 6 years) I drifted away, and I haven't bought another multitool since early 2010. I did have to part with a few partly because I needed the cash, but also because I thought some of my friends here would get more pleasure from them than I would.

There were some that I couldn't part with however, and in fact I've still got quite a collection left, I think. They still (as I type this) reside in those old red toolboxes that you'll find pictures of all over this forum ( :D ) and those toolboxes have been moved around and around during the months and years, rarely being opened until I took the PSTs out to check something on this forum last week. We even sort of built my new office "around" them....

Until eventually, a couple of months ago - they ended up here:

Not satisfactory really, I'm sure you'll agree! So about a week ago I spotted an eBay auction, won it, and today after a little assembly I have this thing (as seen in the "what do we have on the way" thread):

So now I have to tidy up a bit because there's little bits of statically charged polystyrene everywhere, but then I shall start to transfer whatever's left in the red toolboxes to the new boxes and I thought I'd throw a few pictures in here as I go along, just in case anyone is interested :) It's a bit crap quality and may well collapse under the weight, but hey that will add to the fun.

As things stand, I know a few specific tools are still in there (I hope), but having not looked in there properly for 6 years I'll be as surprised as most of you at what I (re)discover. I'm fully prepared to actually not remember what half of them actually are!

What exactly is that thing?  It looks to be a masculine jewelry box.

Pretty much yes! It's supposed to be a "traditional" take on a roller cabinet and tool chest I think. Most important criteria for me was that it fitted in that corner as that's the last space I have available really :/

This should be interesting. You do know Dave that your photos of all your leathermans got me to thinking I should expand my collection when I joined in 09.  :multi:

OK - here we go.

I've beaten a path to the boxes and grabbed a few tools from drawer one, lol.

I remembered that the pink Toolclip was an MTO run - but couldn't find any MTO markings on it until I opened the blade, where it becomes about as subtle as a brick :D

OK - Swiss stuff and a couple of CRKT things (Guppie maybe?)

I do have a few other SAKs knocking around somewhere in various bags and stuff, I know there's a couple of modded Leathermans too. Might need to go hunting for them after this....

I seem to have a fair few Gerbers left!

I'm already starting to doubt whether everything will fit in these new drawers  :-\

Last ones for tonight I think.

The SAKs in this first one are users - and they've seen a fair bit of use too.

After that it's pretty much all Leatherman stuff in the remaining drawers I think. Starting with some knives....

And I'll leave the rest for tomorrow I think :)

One thing that I've noticed is how much easier it is to post pics with modern smartphones :D

I used to come here a lot.

Good for you Dave, digging out the collection and going through them all again. :tu:  (Sounds like something someone else I know ought to do one of these days) ::)

I love seeing the old Paul Chen tool again. And judging by the cuts I see in the backsprings, it appears that your two Gerber MPT's are from two different production series. Nice!
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

Cheers guys!

@Bob - I'm pretty sure all the Gerbers will be unique in some way, but I'd be lying if I said I could remember what the differences were. Once I get them moved I'll hopefully be able to look at them a bit more - its a bit sad they haven't seen the light of day for so long :)

@ReamerPunch - Its starting to look as though they aren't all going to fit lol. I may have to downsize a bit, but the reality is that the things I may part with won't be the things that everyone wants :D

@David, Poncho, Chako, Aloha & gdoolittle - thanks! If you're interested, I'll carry on later :)
