MP600 saw mod

I used a SOG saw blade that Poncho sent me and reprofiled it to fit my MP600. I removed the lanyard holder to make room. Fits great and locks perfectly.Finished it off by coating it with with dry spray graphite to match the BO coating.

No tool wobble? I tried this once, and ended up with a a huge amount of up and down play.

Nice job

Wonder if it makes a difference that it was one of the Harley Davidson branded saws

I don't think so as it looks identical to the unbranded one . There is plenty of metal on the SOG blade to make a perfect match to the Gerber profile.

As I've shared in other threads, I recently got a Multi-Lock Scout. Here's a recent picture of it.

Am thinking of replacing the lanyard ring tool with a wood saw. As my knowledge on Gerber is very minimal, I only know of one MT that has the wood saw (the Diesel). Will it be a perfect fit (does it have the same thickness as the lanyard ring)?

Any other Gerber MTs that have the wood saw?

I can tell you that the lanyard ring from my MP600 was about the same thickness as the SOG saw I used.
I'll bet that the Gerber saw is similar in thickness.

The only other Gerber that I can think of with a saw is the Strata. From memory, and I may be wrong here, I believe the Diesel saw (and SOG saw) are longer.

Note also that you'll need to change the location for the saw, probably replacing the can opener at a guess (unless you go bladeless, and carry a separate knife).

Gerber: - Balance, Dime + mods (MP426**, DEsTroyer, MP6000**, TurboDiesel**, Neutered Octane**)
Leatherman: - Sideclip, KF4, + mods (Fuse-ilier**, Knifeless Wave**)
Others: - Vise Grips LC6

Thickness shouldn't be an issue thanks to the pass through fastener.
Length I'm not sure about. I put Diesel scissors (approx half cm longer than that diamond file) into a 600 recently and they fitted in.
Outside pivot will need a quick reshape. Here are a few pics showing the difference from when I fitted the Diesel scissors.

Not to dig up an old thread, but I was considering doing a mod like this on my Center Drive.  With a saw in place of the serrated blade, it would pretty much cover the uses I have here in the country.
What's the tool used to disassemble a Gerber?

I read somewhere in this post or another, pliers can be used to loosen pivot screws...

This video also shows a special tool:

Adjustable spanners...

loki-mobile sells the tools to dis-assemble MTs

I got the Leatherman and Gerber wrenches. They work great and make dis-assembling a breeze.

I don't know why ppl make a big ordeal about removing pivots from mp's,  pair of carpenters pincers from pound land /dollar store are perfect for the job.

Very true, but the difference between using something that works and something made for the task is night and day. Like using a knife to remove a branch from a tree. It can be done, but a saw works better.

I have used many different tools to adjust my Gerbers. The best I have used are the tools loki-mobile sells. They are made to take apart the specific tools and work much better than any thing else 'that works.'

YMMV
