on: August 04, 2016, 06:02:09 PM
Often I see knives for sale from Sheffield

How good are they supposed they are still mnufactured there.

Is Sheffield steel good?

I know is tradition on stell, but are their steels comparable to the swiss steel of SAKs?

Thank you guys  :tu:

Sheffield at one time was the center of the British knife industry. That's long past and the name is regularly applied nowadays to cheap Chinese junk.

Any knife actually made in Sheffield, England is probably good, just as any knife from Solingen, Germany or Toledo, Spain is probably good.  You just need to make sure they're not using the name on a Chinese knife made with inferior steels before you buy it.
