Monrogue's Realm
on: August 05, 2016, 02:47:37 AM
Well I finally decided to start my own little thread for the fun of it ;)

I'll start it with some pics of my precious per the Banana Man's request....
(These two pics courtesy of Syph)

It's a fairly robust toolset.  This would actually be the 2nd version (I may be known for having difficulty making up my mind ::))

I have the pliers to act as beefy tweezers, etc.  They've come in handy on occasion.  The metal file has also been a little handy, but I'm discovering that I could possibly do without it   Of course the scaler has proven to be a favorite implement of mine.  It's a great misc tool :tu:  I replaced the cap lifter with the nail file, as I wanted both that and the awl.  I'm sort of missing the cap lifter though, and don't use the nail file as much now that I have the sweet glass file in my Swisscard.  It also has the Vic shield scale on both sides as I am not a fan of the engraving plate scale.

I'm loving the gradual wear developing on the scales :tu:

Thanks for viewing, and I'm hoping to have something cool to post later....

Of course the scaler has proven to be a favorite implement of mine.  It's a great misc tool :tu:

Can you please explain more about what you use the scaler for, other than fish scales? I have never had a knife with a scaler, used a spoon edge before I learned to fillet my fish slabs
Maybe, me can have a scaler badge, just like the hook badge to generate ideas.

TIA
If I start and end the day above ground, it is a good day!

Hope yours is as good!

Actually I don't use it for fish as I don't go fishing.  It's good as a back scratcher, which is my primary use.  The ruler is handy at times.  I also magnetized the tip.  It's good as a poking/prodding tool as well.  Also a fork, as Jersey Devils tends to use it ;)

There is a scaler badge too, and I have it :)

Ok, success.....kinda....

I either removed a bit too much from the lock notch on the file, or the part that keeps it solid in the lock tab was already a bit rounded on the PST II file.   I don't recall doing anything to that particular spot, so I'm not sure   It's a bit wobbly, and comes unlocked when folded in with a little force, but really shouldn't be a big deal.

Thanks to SteveC for the inspiration and guidance :salute:

Hey there Monrogue,
Have you thought about swapping the nail-file for the caplifter and using the saw/file as a nail file instead?
Cheers!

Yes, but I'm also not sure I need the metal file, although I like having the saw function as it seems like it could saw a variety of materials.  The file is rather aggressive for my nails though.

The MechaRogue was designed as a standalone SAK carry really, hence the robust toolset.  However,  whenever I leave home, I carry a SAK/MT combo, among other items.  So the only time it's a standalone carry is evenings at home, and I have rare need for such a loadout, especially since I have SAKs and MTs strategically stashed throughout my house ;)

Nice  I knew you could do it :tu: The MT it came off of doesn't lock anyway so it's cool ;) :D

Thanks man.  Yeah. I'm thinking that may be why it doesn't stick solidly in the lock.  I really don't think I did anything to that spot, plus I would've had to take a fair amount off to shape it that way, and it took time to remove what I did in the other spot, so I think I'd remember if I did it ;)

Nice thread and good job on the file mod

You might be right, there might not quite be enough metal where it's rounded to lock solid. Probably good enough for filing though   :tu:

The Realm of Monrogue is a magical place - Dark metal multitools, secret storerooms and finding ways to use the fishscaler you accidently asked syph to include in your mod.

Glad you did this Mo, your mods are worth some discussion.

They are red anodized liners.  It's my favorite color scheme, which is another reason I love it ;)

Thanks man :salute:  Yeah, it should be fine.  In most cases that I file anything, I tend to have a finger against the file depending on the angle and whatnot.  Sawing should be fine too.  It just bugs me a little as everything else locks fine.

Carrying my first G1 Wave today.

I'm still torn on the whole Nite-Ize clip issue.  It's a good clip, but it's rather annoying for gripping the tool.  It protrudes from the tool more than I like.  The tip also sticks out and worries me that it will catch or scratch something.  I wish LM had started the removable clip with this model.  That clip is great.
