Happy New Year, your Highnessness

What race are you playing?
Argonian this time around.  I really like the water breathing ability.  I came close to drowning too many times before.

Haven't posted in here for a while....been playing Middle Earth:  Shadow of Mordor lately.   Yes, I tend to be a little late getting these games, but after a couple years it's easier to tell if a game was ood, plus it gets an ultimate or game of the year edition.  So it can be smart to wait ;)  Anyway, great game.  It's a blast to play and pushed Skyrim aside for the time being.  I don't think this game will last several months like Skyrim, but I've still got plenty to do to last me several weeks or more.

Also, I had ordered a CRKT Bivy and it arrived today.  It reminds me of my Buck Xtract sort of, but a bit beefier, especially the pliers.  The blade is interestingly shaped, but I like it.  The whole tool is a bit bulky, but that allows for the beefier pliers, which are fun to deploy.  The back tools are ok, but the lock release can be a bit stubborn it seems.  It also has a pocket clip, which will help.  The Xtract doesn't, so it's not as easy to carry for me.  Overall it seems decent, and I'll give it some carry time :tu:

I've got the same tool and am going to review it sometime soon.  It's an interesting tool with both good points and bad.  It also reminds me of both the xtract and maybe a switchplier combined.

Oh cool, I agree about the Switchplier influence as well.  I have never handled one, but it appears like the plier deploying is similar.  I look forward to your review :tu:

I like it.  It's a fun fiddle factor MT.  However, it lacks the versatility of a butterfly opening MT.  I can see this ending up like my Xtract, which does not get carried.  It does have the pocket clip though, which increases it's chances a bit.  I did weigh it at work today, and it came in at 7.6oz, which is quite hefty for a limited tool set.  The Rebar weighs less and has much more to offer.  I do enjoy the pliers though.

Have you ever tried the xtract essential?  That has a pocket clip, no pliers though.

I would advise checking your coffers before considering a purchase Sire. Your little 'pecadillos' have drained the royal funds somewhat.  :pok:
Also, if you have to spend some money, buy your cat an appropriate sized bed!

The blade came very sharp.  I really dig it.  The whole tool is just so bulky.  I mean my G1 Wave is slimmer and offers so much more, so it's going to be hard to want to carry the Bivy after the newness wears off.  I would keep it handy for fiddle factor though ;)

I think this is a neat tool.  I really like the looks of it.

It's funny because I wasn't a big fan of the PPP, but this one just has something about it.  Outside tools is a big plus.  The nail nicks aren't that helpful, but I can get the short tools out by pulling out the jeweler's driver or can opener.  Each of these either pulls the other tools out a bit, or allows more space to reach them:

The protractor is a neat addition, not that I really have a need for it, but cool nonetheless.  I also like how the gears are not an issue digging into my palm, thanks to the bit driver setup, which was an issue  had with the PPP.

The handle splay is still an issue though, but less of a big deal to me now compared to my thoughts on it originally with the PPP.

I've found in most cases that I don't need the pliers open to max width, so the splay isn't as much of a factor now.  It's still not my preference, but I can live with it.

Part of what drew me to it was the pocket clip.  However, the tool is light enough that it can ride next to my wallet no problem.  It will be good for my jeans though.  I don't like how high it rides though, at least at work, so I may just let it sit next to my wallet.  I wouldn't mind removing it as I think that would slightly improve the looks for me, but I will likely leave it be.

My other main issue is that the handles can't be extended like with the Rebar or Supertool, which has been handy for me in the past.  However, with as little as I really use my MTs, this isn't a huge issue, just a personal preference.  I think that's it for my thoughts for now.....
