nice pic Nate. So any news on the fire review series?
LOL!
Hmmm.......I might have to try that.

sounds like something up your alley considering you usually have an unorthodox approach in the videos

I will make sure the next time I am out I will grab some pics.

Going to purchase my first Mora.  Looking around, it looks like there are several models under $20 - $30...

I've been checking out the Companion, Classic 1, Pro C...  pretty sure I want to go Carbon.

I just want to have a decent fixed blade to take fishing, hiking, camping etc.

Any suggestions?

I have a vintage classic from the 30s that's still running strong and I think that says a lot. For newer options I've really taken a liking to the 2000, the scalloped tip is great for fine work and the handle grips even when soaking wet or in -30 conditions

Any of them would be good.  I own a No1 and like it just fine but, oddly for me, I actually prefer their more modern knives.  I've tried both of the other two you have suggested and I like them very much, but it's the Pro C I've been thinking about getting for myself.  My top choice of Mora right now is my Kansbol, though that's the top end of your budget and only in stainless so it might not be for you.  I've never seen or used a Mora I like more though.

I recall someone sying that the modern handles can take on the scent of fish so that might be a factor (Zoidberg maybe?)

Maybe a 510?
All are good  :)
Are you fishing in salt water?
If so I would recomend a Stainless steel one. The Mora Carbon blades rusts pretty fast after contact with salt water.

I would like to tell you to just give up. You'll end up with a bunch of Moras anyway. Just like MTs, they are highly addictive

It depends on usage and local climate etc but use > clean > oil > store is good.
Most of mine have a patina so they don't get oiled as often.
Actually that isn't true, they don't get oiled because I'm lazy and don't mind a little rust or pitting on them.

Oddly enough I've never oiled my carbon Moras. But then again I use them for food prep a good bit so they develop a patina really fast

Some friends are buying Alox SAKs as group buy over at DLT. Since it will practically be free shipping for me, I decided to order a Mora Robust ($14.95) as my 2nd Mora. Why this model? Primarily because of this video

ok, thx, I'm gonna oil them though(my robust and new bushcraft) Didn't have much luck developing a patina on my copper olight i3e so Im not crazy about the prospect of trying again, plus that bushcraft is too cool as is.

didn't we warn you that they are addictive? congrats on the purchase

I was never warned  the amazon sale prices were too good last week, got a Kansbol, Eldris, army green companion and the aforementioned BC, but I was waiting almost a full year to get them at the low sale prices, now I feel pretty satisfied and don't think I will be feeding the beast for awhile(mostly because I'm totally broke ) But love these new additions, they are all impressive fixed blades.
