I'm a huge fan of these- they are great for kids and fun for an adult to build.  Maybe they aren't that technical, but if you ever wanted to know how a backlock works, there's no better way to figure it out than to build one yourself.

I was lucky enough to get one of the early ones at SHOT a few years ago when CRKT was promoting them.  And, for our anniversary a few years ago we gave away a bunch of the wood kits and plastic kits straight from Klecker Knives.

Rough Rider actually makes real knife kits like that. I can't speak to the quality though.
