30 Day Leatherman Flair Challenge
on: August 10, 2016, 06:02:59 AM
Day 1 was yesterday. Oiled the pliers, didn't get any bit of black particles from the exercising. Used the knife to cut up an apple for a late night snack.

Day 2, today, went to Jimbo's restaurant for a buffet dinner after work. The stir-fried shrimp are great, next best thing to lobster, but so greasy just the same. Impaled a juicy shrimp morsel with the Juice fork, skinned off the shell, and commenced eating it - ssslllooowwwlllyyy. Mmmm.

Flair lacks one important tool... a file.

People have said the corkscrew on the Flair is weak, due to being made out of brass. But...no mention if the can/bottle/assisted opener being brittle... and looks to be made of the same colored material. Then read somewhere that those two tools were off-colored to give it a flair of colors. Was unable to find an online manual from Leatherman on the Flair... they used to have older manuals of retired tools available (before the webpage overhaul).

Well... pulled out the magnets I keep in the back of of a Skeletool CX (hangs from a metal shelf) and gave them two tool parts the magnetic test. And guess what? :D

That ain't super glue holding them on there! :ahhh

  Nah. You serious?

  Cajun-seasoned Beef

How does this grab ya? :D  Only 50 minutes in the GoSun Sport solar oven. Was inside posting and editing photos, drying clothes, and whatnot.

Digging in. The hash browns got a bit soggy from the beef juices... didn't have any whole potatoes on hand today.

It's officially the next day since it's past 1:00 AM. Had a late night snack before bed, a white honeydew. Spreader makes for a terrific melon cutter. Was day dreaming of melon balls while cutting this melon up. If only there was a semi-bowl to the spreader, could savor the juices more. :)

G'Day Mate,

Excellent choice for a challenge. Good Luck with it. And being a food focused Multi, we will all be drooling over our keyboards. Some of the food looks very good.

I agree that a file is a good addition to it.

I have also found the original instructions that came with the Flair. I include two scans for you. I will see if I can get them clearer over the weekend.

Cheers,

Pete

Had Mrs Dash Lemon Peppered Beef today cooked with the GoSun. Did almost 1 full hour on this. Also cooked zucchini, purple potatoes, small white potatoes. Consumed half while the other half stayed warm in the GoSun Sport. Decided that maybe I should eat the other half too, so I did. :D

  Zucchini check...

  Purple potato check...

Turning steak over to bath other side in the juices...

Had made a simple paracord choker for an Australian Tiger's Iron pendant, but that got a bit too tight on the neck today. A friend reminded me about a chainmail choker he made for me and the reasoning of a softer metal link near the clasp - was to keep from garroting me. So that got me to thinking, and used the Flair to cut that sucker off my neck.

Bought a 24 inch stainless steel chain from Walmart up until I can find a suitable replacement. have two Australian Tiger's Iron pendants I'm wearing now, though one needs to be on a longer chain. It's currently on a thin leather strand but am worried that I could lose it still.

This is what I was wearing before, but it only lasted  year before the pewter jaws wore too thin. Not sure why Bico of Australia doesn't make this in a more tougher metal than pewter. Would like to get another one but $50 for barely a year's worth of use? :ahhh

Temporarily fixed a severely warped and twisted spring clip, on a lanyard I use for holding a water bottle on roll cages at work.

Ended up cutting it off and knotted the ends together.

Victorinox plastic corkscrew Screw does not work well with a Leatherman Flair. It can be force fit but the corkscrew then protrudes outwards thus does not seat well.
