Just found the Old Cross Club, and happy to report in with my meager bunch.

Left to Right:

-  Cadet with letter opener mod.  I replaced all the tools except the nail file myself (twice, actually; hence the messy rivets).  I liked the letter opener so carried it over.

-  Cadet II.  Again, bought 2nd hand and I replaced all the tools myself.  Did a little better job on the rivets on this one.

-  Voyageur.  I NEED a red specimen if anyone out there reading this has a spare for sale....  :)

-  Wenger Standard Issue.  One of the few Wengers in my collection.  This knife came from LL Bean originally and I have its original box.  A real gem for Bean nerds like me.

-  Pioneer.  Just arrived this week from our capable and friendly moderator, SteveC, and what a very fine knife it is indeed.

-  Safari.  I am the original owner of this knife.  Although retired now, it was used as a tool in my workshop for a long time.  Sales receipt is dated March 22, 1985.

Well, just made an unexpected addition. Had a few minutes to kill and swung by a local antique store. Didn't expect to find anything as I go there fairly frequently.

Went to a part of the store I don't normally go to and saw a victorinox box sitting on a shelf in a booth. The box is basically mint, and I believe it is a Swiss Army Brands, Inc box from the 80's(?).

As I picked it up I thought, "please be something cool.". Imagine my surprise as I slide open the box and see red alox!  :ahhh

Imagine my further surprise as I take the knife out and see divots where a bail should go  :ahhh  :ahhh

Imagine my even further surprise when I open the main blade and see the Elinox stamp  :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

And my final surprise when I see the +PAT on the can opener  :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

It's in very good shape, except the missing bail and it looks like an amateur sharpened the blade leaving lots of scratches. Its still quite sharp, which makes me think someone actually used and tried to care for it.

I'm pretty confident the box isn't original. I don't think SABI existed in the 60's and I'm pretty sure the knife would be early 60's based on the bail, Elinox stamp and +PAT can opener.

All in all, a surprisingly good visit!

That's awesome Gustophersmob!  Congrats on your lucky find.

I agree that the box is surely not original, but it's nice to have a box regardless.  Does the 93 mm Pioneer seem to fit in it ok?

Yeah, it fits OK. The box insert is similar to modern boxes with a 91mm looking indentation.

And, in a happy turn of events, a pair of family BYSAKs arrived today and they are both excellent additions to the Old Cross Club thread.

Nice one!  Wish my Safari still looked like that....

Did you put the ring/bail in it or did it come like that?

Very nice SAK Gustophersmob!

What's the story on your watch strap in the pic?  It looks pretty cool too.

Thanks!

The strap is from Lake house leather http://www.lakehouseleathers.com/

At full price, I'm not 100% the quality is worth the price, but the last few black Friday's they've had them on sale for 50% off, which I think is a good deal.

Here's a Pic I had handy from about a month ago. Doesn't show the strap really well, but you can get the idea

A new addition to my Old Cross bunch.  The mighty Technician!

Never before have I been more torn between shelf-queening a rare knife because it's in such nice condition and using it because its unique implements would be so handy!
