Nope, there's a carbon steel one too. I believe it's XC75, which is similar to 1075.

Day 6

Case Swayback Gent. In a hurry so nothing more to say today! :)

May it be as the Pattern has chosen.

Are those Rough Riders any good ?

Mine seems pretty good.  Smooth action, came plenty sharp out of the box and nicely finished.  Only issues for me are the slight rough edges to the bone scales and the pen blade blocking the clip point blade nail nick slightly.

Opinel for me today. I ordered a blade only British army knife that should get here in a week or two. It may be utter crap but I'm a sucker for sheepsfoot blades, and for $18 shipped I won't complain! Hopefully it's decent enough.

Schrade Old Timer 34OT yet again.  I spent most of today dusting and rearranging the shelves on which I display my model car collection, specifically the emergency vehicle ones (it and farm/construction equipment constitute most of what I collect).  The little white fire truck, a Golden Wheel "American LaFrance) beside it is pretty special, as one I've had it since childhood, and secondly the brand of fire apparatus which it represents, American LaFrance, (but it is a copy of a Majorette called "Pompier" which was sort of based on an American LaFrance) operated here in my hometown of Bluefield, VA from 1986 to 1994.  The toy was actually purchased here in Bluefield as well, at a Dollar General over a decade ago.

Both knives seen about the same amount of usage.
I use the carbon steel one during reenactment battles, mostly food prep.
The stainless one is use at home kitchen.

They really are great knives. They are made up of a grand total of eight pieces, incliding the pins and bail. :) They've been in production since 1867, so there must be something right about them......

Like the others have said, for the $$ they're hard to beat. They're very well made knives. :tu:

Also from my understanding if you take a RR to Smoky Mt. Knife Works they will swap it under a lifetime warranty that they have :o They are the main distributor for RR in our area (that or Frost Cutlery is and SMKW deals a lot with them with many knives  )

Day 6

I found this as you see it. It was missing for most of the day.  To be fair, if they can reach something, and bat it around the house until they get bored with it, then it must be a cat toy (obviously) and must have been left wherever they found it specifically for their amusement.  This is a rule, but it is their rule, not mine.

Traditional Challenge Days 5&6

#31SAB Case Swell End Jack Knife, 1976 w/CV saber & pen blades & Delrin scales.

When working around the property like I did over the weekend, I like to carry a heavy-duty plier multi and knife combo.  This big Case jack fit the bill!!  The saber blade is thick and heavy, and there's something about the CV on all the Case knives I've had from this era that it keeps a WICKED sharp edge.  It cut a good quantity of sisal rope and cardboard, and just took a bit of stropping to bring it right back.  This pattern was established at Case in 1915.

The ST200 is still my "go to" when heavy duty is called for.  When not carrying a traditional, I typically pair it with a Vic Farmer or Pioneer.  After my experience with the Case today, I might have to rethink that.
