Here's a Schrade USA 881Y vs an older Taylor Senior 8OTY

Schrade is at the top
(Image removed from quote.)

Pretty close copy (if they weren't side by side) and the Taylor doesn't have China anywhere on it except the box.

They do look close, open like yours mine look alike except for the spey blade.
The China 80 had a high spot on the spey that made it look like the clip blade. I ground it off because it covered the nail nick a bit.

The big difference on mine is when you look down from above then they are different designs.
Maybe there was a change at one time.

The only Taylor-made Schrade Old Timer I have is this Barlow. It's actually a pretty well-made knife. :tu:

Carried a fairly recent beat up Case Trapper  today I'd gotten in a junk lot about a year ago,  sharpened up and carried earlier this summer (back in May, if I remember correctly), put somewhere where it didn't belong, and quite frankly, forgot about until my grandfather found it today looking for his knife that he'd also lost.

It's a 3254 CV.   While I got the lot this knife was in because it was cheap, I prefer carbon steels for a working knife.  The three Cases I carry the most (Canadian Navy Knife, made by their short-lived Canadian subsidary Metal Stampings Ltd., hawkbill electrician's knife (62031 LHR), and a 1964-1969 Folding Hunter (bought new way back then by my great uncle) are all carbon steel.

6231:

6 - Bone handles.  If it looks like brown Delrin, it must be the "red bone" that was popular before the 80's
2 - 2 blades
31 - 3 3/4" Swell-end jack pattern, the same as mine above

Most of the #31 knives had a regular clip-point main, but it was also made in a spear and a saber like mine in lower numbers.

I can't quite remember what the 1/2 means, but I'm thinking it means two blades on one end.  In other words, a jack as opposed to a pen or muskrat-type pattern.  My Case barlow also has the 1/2 designation.

Correction:

6 indicates "jigged'. It can be a natural or synthetic material.
1/2 indicates a clip main blade for knives offered in a variety of blade styles

Thanks Terry!  It does look like jigged brown delrin.  Will try for a pic tomorrow, we had storms this afternoon and the light was lousy.

Very nice.  What are Moonraker like to order from?  Seems a little low-tech, but they've got a nice range and good prices.

Rough Rider Whittler in jigged bone for me today.

That looks like a better blade combo than the Whittler that Heinnie have got.  Theirs has a large and small spear clip point, and a small pen blade.  Think I'd prefer the arrangement on yours - where did you get it?

Back to the Sodbuster.  I'm really getting to like this knife, but the edge is way too steep an angle.  Must get round to giving it a proper sharpening.

A little low tech, yes.  I had to phone and talk to someone! :ahhh  First time I've ordered from them but it wasn't a problem.

This one is from HH as well.  http://www.heinnie.com/rough-rider-whittler  I did have the other, more common, version they stock as well, but I gave it away.  I definitely prefer the blade combo on this one.
