It's probably the one that I notice less in the pocket. Navaja-like again. Note to self: don't use thumb to stop blade when cutting fruit...

Damn you all!!  You made me buy a new knife.

Pics when it gets here, of course. :D

:like: That was my first Rough Rider as well, which I'd bought on sale here locally for eight bucks, albeit mine has different jigging. I've got to admit, I swear these things are better quality than the (cheap at the time) USA Colonials and Imperials of the 1970s and 1980s.

Traditional Challenge Day 8

#009 Case XX Barlow, 1970

What can you say about a Barlow?  It's just a no-nonsense knife that gets the job done.

Again with the indoor pictures.  Lots of rainy weather around here the past couple of weeks!

Back to the Sodbuster.  I'm really getting to like this knife, but the edge is way too steep an angle.  Must get round to giving it a proper sharpening.

Nice!!!!  :tu:

Well, not as seriously as yours, bro. Just a couple mm in the soft part of the fingerprint-part (there must be a technical name for it, unbeknownest to me due to my poor grasp of the fineries of the english tongue...).

For 30 years all I carried was a stockman, this is a stockman on steriods.

Wow.  Nice ones guys, and thanks for the comments!

The Delrin on that 31 looks great SG!  They knew how to do them right in the 70's.  There's something about that pattern....

Dean, love the railsplitter.  Is that one SS or D2 steel?

Thanks! Like the brazilians say "vaso ruim não quebra" (a bad vase never breaks).
 :D :D

It's not the first time it happens. I always try to have the thumb pad out of the way but this time it was 1/4 inch still in the wrong place. That's what you get when you don't respect a knife "'cause it's just a cheap-not-that-sharp-small-folder"...

That's the beauty of D2, and what I really like about Queen.  Edge-holding like carbon, yet stainless.  It's harder to sharpen than carbon though, in my experience.

Mine qualifies as "bear trap".  However, it's still not as difficult to pull as my #73 Northfield.

You shamed me into taking a better picture.   :)

Even with ceramics or diamonds it can take a while to re-profile. It's not really hard to sharpen once you have the angle set where you want it.
I'll strop as needed and when it does need sharpening, a few licks with the 600 grit takes care of it quickly..
One thing I learned early on was not to let it get butter knife dull.

So true, and a good point that brings me to a drawback of Queens.  Nearly every Queen I own needed a reprofile from the factory.  Their edges are nowhere near as consistent as Case in my experience.  GEC is somewhere in-between.

That second picture is nice!
