Traditional Challenge Day 15

#33 Great Eastern Cutlery Northfield Conductor w/carbon blades, coping secondary & Gabon Ebony scales.

I've kept this one out of my pocket for several years, and now I've concluded that it's too great a knife to not use.  This is one of GEC's best patterns, IMO.  It's the perfect size for a watch pocket (3 5/16" closed), yet it has a surprisingly large main blade fit into that small frame.  The #33 pattern is also produced in 3-blade whittler (clip, pen, coping) and a "pen knife" with clip and pen blades.  I consider this one with the coping secondary a "1/2 whittler".

I knew this thread would cost me.
First the Case, and now this arrived in the mail. :D

Its a GEC #14 Tidioute Boys Knife.

Oh yeah.  You did good!  Try not to use it too much, or that wonderful GEC smell will wear off.  ;)

Thanks!
I bought it to use it, so it will get its fair share of pocket time :D

That's a beauty mate.

A couple Schrade Heritage series.

I picked these up from a local hardware back in the mid 80's. I switched over to stainless, so these just got forgotten about. Schrade built the Heritage series between 1983 and 1986, in three colors red, green & brown. They all had fluted bolsters with polished bone & the Everlastingly Sharp mark on the blade.

The knives came in a hinged blue top box with 'Schrade's Heritage' and Ellenville, New York 12428 in gold lettering on top. Boxes originally came with slip on white sleeve with pattern # stamped on one end.

It's a shame I didn't buy a red one or maybe three barlows one in each color. Who would have thought they would become collectors knives.

Gorgeous knives.  I especially like the red stockman with the swedges and long pulls.

The "local hardware store".  Oh, how I long for the good 'ol days...  :-\  I live in a fairly rural area, and even around here most of the good stuff is dried up and run out of town.

That is actually the brown stockman, I've never seen the red one.

It was a little mom-pop place not very big but it was the place to go for advise. They are long gone now, places like Ace put them out of business.

Yeah, we had several great mom and pops around when I was a teen/younger man.  Strangely, they were much smaller than what we have today but they seemed to nearly always have what I needed (or wanted).  And on those occasions when they didn't have it, you could drive another few blocks to another great little place that did.

 :drink: cheers to those guys.

2 or 4 bladed congress is probably my favorite pattern but I haven't seen many of any in this thread  Am I alone in loving that pattern on here :-[ Just curious really :D

Have one, but it's not for carrying, it's for looking at...  I've never carried it.

Boker Big Congress
(Image removed from quote.)

I have an old Boker very similar to that but not in that good of shape mind you  I have got to get a few of mine together for pics in the slip joint thread  :D

I do very much like that one though SG :like:

Thank you and, awesome! I'll head over and take a look!!!!

Day 16
A S&M #69 Stag Barlow.
I got this last spring, on week one I made the 700 mile drive to mom's to visit and take care of repairs. She makes up a list of to do's so I know what tools to pack up. a utility knife was not needed.

First morning I found a dozen roof shingles folded back from 90 mph straight line winds that came thru the week before. So up to the roof I went, all knives need a good break in right.

I tried without success to show all the little scratches but my photo skills are a little lacking.

Beautiful knife Dean!!!!!
