Wire Stripper Function in Liner Lock 111 mm Models
on: January 03, 2024, 09:36:14 PM
Hello,
Just got my first 111 mm and loving it. I was wondering though, and I figured our more experience users know more than I do. How do you use the wire stripper (WS) in the can opener when the liner lock is blocking the WS and the blade?

In any other 2 layer model the WS serves as a holder for the wire while you use the blade as a cutter (then twisting the wire). I did notice that any model thicker the distance between the WS and blade is greater so not as functional.

But I’m scratching my head on this one. Not a biggie, there are other ways to strip a wire. But I was just curious. Thanks!!!

Open the bottle opener/screwdriver all the way.

Nice Garant, by the way!!  I have two of them…

Thanks!! Liking those green scales.

So I take it then you just place in the WS notch and pull without using the blade to cut around?

I was using this method: https://youtu.be/z_yb136-ewU?si=v9oS9OG1FvYOb5ua

Thanks!

The instructions from Vic show it being used as both a wire bender and a wire stripper (insulation puller).  Presumably in the later case, the knife blade would be used to cut or at least score the insulation first.  They show a 91 mm, but 111 mm would be the same if used this way.  See drawing panel #8…

Thank you!!! Ok that was what I was doing with my thicker SAKs. Wasn’t sure about the larger models if there was a trick I was missing.

I was so excited to see your instruction leaflet I ran to my trash can to retrieve the box…. and it doesn’t even mention wire stripping
