Call this Ranger yellow and you wouldn't live to regret it.

Captain Frank Hamer

Yeah, he wasn't yellow, not one bit! BTW, my FIL has a Remington Mod 8 in .35 Remington like the one Hamer used on B&C.  Minus the 20 rd extended mag of course.   :D

Nice!

While digging up that photo came across another of a Colt Monitor (semiauto BAR) owned by Hamer that's in the Texas Ranger Museum.
Definately a strong believer in firepower. Given his career you can understand why.

Did some more digging. The Monitor was a BAR with a pistol grip and shortened barrel. Some sources say it was full auto; others that it was semi auto only. May have depended on the agency buying it.

:like: :like: Robert I love it!  My son has a Ranger and said he'd have stopped with just that knife if he had gotten it first.  When the Challenge is over with the Swisschamp, I'm going to see if he'll let ole Pop here take it out for a drive.  I love the size, and you know how much I love the Space Shuttle knives!

That Monitor of Hamer's is probably the most famous one in existence.  A few years back, I had the pleasure of cracking a magazine full off from an original BAR at a WWII event.  An old friend, long gone, was a BAR gunner in the Army and loved it (except lugging it!).

Great pic CS....I love working pics!   When I was a boy I used to help an old family friend in his masonry business.  Hard work but an honest day's work!

I join the club with not one, but two ranger! The older one appeared for the first time in the thread dedicated to "sak and cat". Now is arrived also the second I have bought. Either are by second hand, the older have blade very consumed, but still sharp, and other tool are not used too much. I will put it in the car, ready to be useful if is needed.
The other is in very good shape.

Thx Ponch!!! It's a great old Peterson guide!  My other geology books were in my shoulder bag along with my hammers when they went up in smoke.
