Lucky Locksmith
on: August 19, 2016, 01:06:54 PM
Just received a not-quite new Locksmith and I was surprised to see a new style metal file on it. I thought I'd have to get a RT Master to get one of those - and I don't really want an RT Master cos the 111mm wood saw is, unlike its 91mm counterpart, quite useful.

Is it luck of the dip which metal saw you get on these things?

I bought one new early last year that has got the newer file (a Workchamp that I picked up earlier this year has the new file too).  There do seem to be a lot of pics of it out there with the older file though.

Wow, I have never heard of a Workchamp with the new file. I'll probably end up getting one of those too, but I prefer the liner locks to the grey button thingies.

May it be as the Pattern has chosen.

Blimey, that black Workchamp sure looks tempting!
But if I buy another SAK right now without selling off some of the unused ones - cough cough, Outrider -  I'm likely to perish in a SAKalanche...

Locksmith... very nice :tu:
The new files (IIRC; from 2005 onwards) are much more agressive than the old ones. I have the old file in my SwissTool and it's definitely too "mild" for my taste.
