Funny thing about my Alox Solo
on: August 21, 2016, 05:36:50 PM
My most practical go to knife is my Pioneer, but as long as I'm into SAKs my most favourite is my plain alox Solo.
O don't know why. I don't have a large collection at all or any customs, but I have a few more expensive single blade traditionals.
However every time I take my Solo, open it and take it in my hand I feel more happy dan with any other blade.
It's not even a real SAK either because of having only a blade, but I like it over my other knives.
Maybe it's because it's simple clean Industrial look and the fact I like metal handled knives.

Anyways my main carry of the past few days has been this slightly modified (of course  ) Solo or my other one. Still have one NIB Alox Solo left which will remain unaltered for now..

So wether I carry my Juice or not, my Solo remains a constant for now.

Just wanted to share.

Thanks for reading this longwinded sunday afternoon (5.20 pm over here) ramble  :-[

I like your ramble, as I am in a similar situation with my waiter.

I rotate MTs weekly, folder almost daily and carry other single blade slipjoints (Opinel, Higonokami, Pallares, Mercator, Douk Douk, Aitor) from time to time, but the one I get most satisfaction out of is this little one.

Even when I carry the Swisschamp, or my so loved Wengers, this one is the one that sees most use, I guess it's low profile, low weight and simple tools (yet very handy) made me fall in love

Truth is, 90% of daily cutting chores for urban people can be handled by this SAK, and some prying, screw-driving and bottle opening for those rare but key occasions in which the proper gadget is not present (saved a few tips prying with it)

On occasion I attach a small squeeze light too it and it is my night (in pajamas) carry, since sometimes we fancy some wine during the nights while we watch TV, or there's a snack wrapping/package that need to be open.

My toys:

MTs: Surge (2x), Skeletool CX, Rebar, Blast, Fuse, Micra, Squirt (3x), Wave, Crunch, Mini, Spirit (2x), Pro Scout, MP700 (2x), Diesel, Powerlock, PowerPlier (2x), PocketPowerPlier, Blacktip , ST6 (2x), 5WR, A100

SAKs: Bantam, Executive, Ambassador, Minichamp, Classic Alox, Champion, Farmer, Explorer, Swisschamp, Golf Tool, Wenger Champ, EVO 52, Pocket Tool Chest

I would like to get a Solo, but I know the absence of a bottle opener would drive me berserk...

Why did your Solo get a nose job?

Just for the fun of it Thunderpants.  :D
I like unusual blade shapes and those Saks and Opinels are rather easy to modify.
