Even though I have no idea when the action will be finished for S410 (still awaiting some parts and the anodising) I have a new stock all lined up for it. The rosewood didn't pan out (yet) as the guy is having problems with his supply. So I've got this one on it's way. It's got an S510 action in it in the photo's but is completely interchangeable with the S410.

Made by a very talented man called Mark Sanderson, this is his personal stock he's sold me as he's built himself another.

That's the idea, I dipped my toe in the water with my Galahad and HFT was in the back of mind when I bought the 410. I'm hoping that all this comes together in time for the meet, I'll have almost as many rifles with me as multi's

How many rifles have you got?  Are the all .177 or a mix of .177 and .22?

Air Rifles
BSA Airsporter .22
AA S510 .22 (tuned)
AA Galahad .177 (just bloody perfect anyway)
AA TX200 (aka 'The Bitch') .22
AA S410 .177 currently in many, many pieces!

Air/CO2 Pistols
Walther CP88
Colt SAA (pellet version)
Sig P226
Original 6m recoiless match pistol (very old and impossible to get spares for)

Rim-fire
Ruger 10/22 'bunny gun', camo wrapped and moderated (for sale)
Ruger 10/22 gallery rifle, far too much spent on this and also up for sale.

Both of those are being sold to fund partially a .17HMR Anschutz and a something (don't know what yet) in 6.5 creedmoor. I'm determined to get my DSC1 this year (that's Deer Stalking Certificate).

I never put photo's of my firearms online, seen bad things happen a few times so I err on the side of caution.

Random arrivals in the post today, custom end caps for my Huggett Belita moderators

Here's a picture of one of them

Although these are FAC capable, they aren't proofed so not serialised,

Oh and the stock in the previous post arrived and it's way better looking than in the photo's. So all I'm waiting on is the anodising and one other metal finishing process  :ahhh

Whilst away on holiday I 'may' have picked up another rifle.

No real idea what I'm going to do with this or if I'm even going to keep it. It was however priced so low, second hand, it would have been a crime not to buy it. So here it is, Air Arms S400 in .177, carbine version. It shoots very well.

I've changed the beech stock to a walnut thumb hole custom stock That I just happened to have laying around.

I may shorten the beech stock so my son can learn to use it, but I'd rather he learnt with a 'iron sights' springer.

Well I just can't leave anything alone, the stock was swapped yesterday and today

Action removed from stock

Muzzle weight to remove

Removed and grease applied

Said grease applied with left hand didget

Moderator adaptor fitted

The next victim, I don't like the standard trigger and I really despise trigger safeties. What moron puts the stop on a go button, I also don't like Glocks for that very reason, anyhoo.

Trigger cover plate removed

Old trigger removed along with excess schmoo, I swear they dip these in oil at the factory, it really doesn't need that much lubrication

New adjustable trigger fitted (with no safety), first and second stages adjusted to suit me obviously. UK meet attendees will no doubt wonder at my preference, but it's worked for me for  30 years so suck it  :D

Final adjustment is the trigger weight, this is now seriously lower than it came out of the factory.

A quick wipe down with some Napier formula X (or VP70 in a can) and jobs done.

Just need to pick up a new moderator for it now.

Oh and a word on my choice to remove the safety, it's a single shot rifle, I can de-cock it and leave the bolt open so the rifle is made safe, even the most casual observers will be able to see my rifle is not made ready at all. My preference is for a safety away from the trigger altogether to lessen the risk of a negligent discharge.

Right I haven't shot for two weeks and the shooting gods decided today would be a day of fail, so in order

  • didn't connect the quick coupler properly when filling the S400 and blew it apart and wrecked the o-ring (luckily I have spares).
  • Get to the range and start setting up the scope, it came with the rifle and I've never shot it before, set paralax then adjust focus. The focus ring fell off, I mean I started to turn it and it just came off in my hand.
  • Buy new scope, fit and take to the lane, adjust paralax, focus and zero the scope, it took 10 shots (not too bad, but I've done better)
  • Light starts to fade so switch on the illuminated reticle, battery cover comes off in my hand! WTF?
  • Back to shop and get the cover swapped over, all working no issues at all

Not the best experience I've ever had but, the rifle is so accurate it's out shooting me by a very large margin  :salute:

Target from zeroing, starts bottom right

5 shot group after zero

Nah man. The rifle aren't out shooting you. Sounds alot like ammo judging by that second target.  Btw, nice shooting on that second target.
How many meters away was it?

Bit of an update, my S410 which is a work in progress and should be finished in the next 3 weeks or so
