New Mod
on: September 16, 2008, 11:15:11 PM
First time I have posted a mod here so be gentle.

Having been inspired to take up whittling I thought I would make myself a purpose build knife.  This is what I came up with.

Started of as a Hiker but I removed the openers, awl and key ring layer.  As you see this left me with just the blades and the saw.  I decided on the Phillips, as it is more comfy on the thumb than the corkscrew.  It is about as smooth and easy on the hand as I could make it and still have the tools I wanted.  I have been thinking of this as the Woodcrafter.  I hope you like it.

PS I also re-profiled the small blade a little.

Very well, I've done a few things with it now.  I only have pics of these though.

Good book BTW. The author recomends a Tinker.

Letter opener? I thought it was a torch with some of the beam coming out of it...

Fine job Gareth! 8)

Would you be expecting to ever use the saw blade in your whittling?
In order to be certain of having the right tool for every job.........one must first acquire a lot of tools

Mostly to gather some branches with and cut to size.  Also if it was any slimmer then I'm not sure it would be so comfortable.
