I bought a Compact just to use the hook with nailfile for a custom build. But I ended up loving the Compact and am carrying it right now. The blade was rough but I fixed it up. So it's slightly smaller than a new blade

Used it today at post office for packing a box. Mine has the plus scales so lots of tools in only 2 layers. If i need to poke holes in soft plastic, I use the scissors tip. At first I wasn't sure about the combo opener, but it works well.

Mine is named "sheila sexsmith". It was a TSA confiscated knife.

I have a waiter named "MC" it's the 84mm size. Not sure I would use it much maybe for a party with beer and wine. I got it for a low price so if somebody decides to slip it into their pocket it's not a big loss. It doesn't have toothpick or tweezers.

I started an 84mm custom  build from a sportsman, 84mm golfer and lumberjack. I made the 2.25mm pins but still need to assemble it.

Today I'm wearing shorts, SwissChamp would be a boat anchor. More and more I'm grabbing the compact before I leave the house.

Haha im writing this from a hospital visitng my friend, just now I heard the nurse say to another nurse "see, you need a swiss army knife so you can change the batteries"...I'd offer my SAK but not sure it's a good idea to pull it out in a hospital.

The Compact has been my primary daily-carry SAK for about 20 years. A British friend carried one, and since I couldn't find one from a US distributor at the time he kindly purchased one for me during his next trip across the pond.

In the intervening years I've given examples to all my children and several friends and family members. IMHO its utility/size ratio is unequalled:

I have carried a SAK in my pocket every day since I was in high school (that dates me) and throughout medical school, residency, and now when I see patients in the hospital. I have pulled it out to do some minor repairs on occasions. No one has every been surprised or upset...but then most people around know me.

My Compact is my favourite SAK lately, especially since I pimped it up a bit!

The copper scales have about doubled its weight which I quite like - feels a bit more hefty!

I've never been able to get on with the smaller SAKs though, 91mm is the smallest you'll see me carrying.
I used to come here a lot.

Hehe :D

I do own a little SAK which my daughter bought for me a few years back, but I'd never use one.

Actually - not true. I have an alox classic in my paracord box that I used to use for heat sealing the ends of cord. At this stage its not particularly pretty :P

I sold my Sportsman,

Regret it so much, it was a really nice minimalist carry. Now the Waiter/Bantam are the smallest "decent minimalist carry",

they do well enough though!  :tu:
Can't really complain

I have a dream.

That one day I have aquired the skill and mental fortitude to assemble a set of modified little SAKs that as a collection will give me access to all topside tools that victorinox offers with a bare minimum of tool redundancy.

It might look something like this: (red scales throughout)
- 111m Swiss cheese knife - food prep blades and corkscrew (2 toothpicks, because cheese)
- 84 Alox Bantam - everpresent pocket buddy
- 74mm scissors and nail file in an alox money clip - grooming kit
- 91mm 2 layer tool with cybertool bit layer, mag-glas/led layer and bottom phillips and plus scales - office tinkering I
- 93mm 2 layer tool with pliers and metal saw -  office tinkering II
- 93mm 2 layer tool with wood saw, pruner blade and awl - minimalist woods kit

Screwdriving jobs should generally be left to to the bit driver in that system.
