Any opinions on the Vaughan Hatchet

Vaughans are very small pocket hatchets...I have one that was modified by BRKT. Handy and easy to carry, but it would take more effort to do the same amount of work as a standard hatchet.

Here it is alongside an old Gerber/Fiskars Sport Axe and a Wetterlings.

Another pocket axe I have is the Norwegian Øyo Mini-Viking. Although the same overall size as the Vaughan/BRKT, it is more substantial in both head and handle. I haven't had a chance to really use it yet but I like it better because of that.

That's a bit tasty

Just my 2p worth here.  I have a Trailhawk and, whist I really like it, it's just not a tool for splitting.  The thin blade to the very round eye is just too much.  Other than that I have a GB SFA, I'm just guessing that this is a bit bigger than you were thinking off.  As often as not the axe I go for is a no-brand wooden halved hatchet I picked up from a local hardware shop years ago.

Lastly the above knife is a personal favourite, I have used more expensive, and own a nice custom piece but this is the one I tend to pick up.  If it's not too cheeky may I post a link to a review I did on another site.

Mods please feel free to remove.

PS that Mini Viking looks like the dog danglies!

Yep I read that review a while back :), bloody fine work mate :salute:

I've got a Lynx (thanks Mikko) and there great aren't they :)

Yep I want to get an SFA at some point, but I really need a small lightweight hatchet for now, as I think that's gonna be better for my needs than a tomahawk at this point :)

I remember looking at one of these is my local Dobies Garden Centre a good while back.  Seemed like a reasonable bit of kit for the money.

No connection to the above seller, just the first one I found on Google.
