Day 18:
(Attempting it ALL single layer!)

Today will be the adventures of the SwissCard Classic!

With the Victorinox SwissCard Classic you get all the implements of a Classic SD and then some, all in a single thin layer . . .

DAY 22

The towel rack was loose and needed fixing. So I broke out the serous tools: The Classic SD!

Step 1: I used the SD to remove the outer plate:

Step 2: Remove plate and unscrew the wall screws.

Step 3: New toggle bolts. Since the holes were already in the wall, a drill wasn't needed. Just push them in, and screw them tight with the SD.

Step 4: Reinstall the outer plate, tighten everything up, voila!

Day 22

Got a package yesterday after I'd already posted yesterday's picture so here it is for today.  Used the Tinker to open what turned out to be my new (to me) 111mm Outrider for next month's challenge.

Tonight,  my band is performing at a new location which requires us to bring a p a. Sound system.  I think I'll need more than the Classic, but really don't have a large,  91mm option with separate screw drivers.  I will probably go with a Vic Waiter, a Wenger Classic 62, or the Executive. The thing is,  with music gear,  there can be tiny screws,  large screws,  or a need for pliers. Might be interesting...

You do know that for the challenge you are allowed to use proper tools when called for, don't you?  Pliers, screw drivers, saws, or what ever you need, as long as they are dedicated tools and not part of another multitool.  We can't be expected to do everything with a SAK, especially a minimalist model.

Yes,  and thanks for the reminder.  I exercised this option to filet some catfish I caught last week using a real,  dedicated filet knife. Thank Goodness,  because fileting a 5 pound fish with the Executive i was carrying would have been kind of messy.

This morning I earned brownie points by tightening the handle on a pot lid.  It was a great opportunity to decide what to carry today. The combo tool on the old worn out Waiter did the job and won a place in my pocket for today. I usually keep this in my lunch cooler as a back up table knife since the spring is worn out and the cork screw flops out.

Day 22

So I've been looking for a way to store phone by the bed and recently found an IKEA solution (I am Swedish after all...). It's probably meant to be a remote holder but after some cutting and a quick seam I can now keep the bedside table a little less cluttered.

I didn't actually use the Soldier for that but it's been with me the whole day and this was a better picture than opening yesterday's mail.

Day 22:

Went to the pumpkin farm, also had a kids/family fun area thing set up. When we got Home, I let the boy cut my paper bracelet off.  Didn't slit my wrist at all; not bad for only 4.

Oh,  this was my Day 22 pic.

I'm carrying the old Waiter on my keychain. It's the only 84mm I have.

The cork screw made a passable tooth pick.

Day 23

Here are the four minimalist SAKs that I have carried this month topped by the 111mm that I will carry next month.  I don't feel very good about next months challenge because that is a huge knife and I'm worried that it may be uncomfortable to pocket carry.  I am a big guy at 6'2" and 300+ pounds, so I don't care for belt pouches.  When I try belt pouches they get hooked on chairs and door frames, get slammed by the car door and ripped open by the seat belt, etc.. The only safe position is in front, and then they poke me in the belly when I sit down. I've pocket carried a Power Lock and a Super Tool 300 but this Vic Outrider is even thicker than those bricks. :ahhh :ahhh :ahhh

You could get a pocket clip for that 111 like I did for my 111mm Centurian...

Or use a sheath with a clip so you can move or remove it when you sit down for a period of time. Or use a horizontal sheath. Or get one of Vic's rotating sheaths (which are clip based).

Day 19:
(Attempting it ALL single layer!)

Today the Hunter Pro has the honors dismembering this Cornish game hen. First time I'd used the microwave convection oven in convection mode with the temperature probe (I'd used it for timed convection before). Defrosted the victim, preheat the oven to 350F, and set it to stop when the probe registered 180F. Oven turned off an sounded an audible beeping when it was done. This is a 21 year old over the stove microwave & convection. Should have used this feature l-o-n-g ago. I'd used the probe in microwave mode, but never in convection mode. Pan was lined with baking paper (good to 450F) to which baked food won't stick. Saves cleaning up the metal pan afterward. The victim is nicely done, and ready to be dismembered for consumption . . .

First a leg and thigh

Then a wing . . .

After dismembering the other leg/thigh and wing, now for the breast . . .

Finally, we have the carcass from which just about all that can be carved has been removed, and the heaping plate of chicken. I've no doubt Medical Bill will concur that care must be taken when carving small Cornish hens with large razor sharp knives, lest you end up eating the chicken with your fingers.

The chicken has been ravenously devoured and all that's left from the plate is the small bowl of cartilage and bone, although the two cats are now desperate to inspect the remains to ensure nothing has been overlooked (nope, sorry guys, not a chance of that).

And it was washed down with a nice gin and tonic . . .

The Hunter Pro cut through the cartilage like a hot knife through butter! Did a digit inventory afterward and Medical Bill will be pleased to know all were present or accounted for. I might look into getting my own Medical Bill, but on second thought maybe I don't need my own and Magentus can take care of Medical Bill for all of us here.

I will try a pocket dangler so it will at least remain vertical in the pocket and not laying in the bottom of the pocket.  The Swiss Bianco pocket clip did look really good on the Centurion though.
