Have you made them fight yet?  :P

If so, which one is the Champion?

Def

You know I have.....

Hard to say which one won as they both just fell over after colliding, lol.

So... you have choosen the kamikaze model, huh?...

I stumbled across a youtube video the other day of Japanese fighting tops - apparently its an old custom that some still play.

I used to come here a lot.

Just 'cause...

:nanadance:

I used to do this as a kid:

We used to put the old mangled wood tops in the center and hit them with the others. Some times we stuck metal tacks in the top belly, so it would cut the others.

Wasn't there a popular top battling game a few years ago? Beyblades or something?

They're still about it seems: https://www.amazon.co.uk/Fashion-Kids-Toys-System-Beyblade/dp/B01DF1SE4O/ref=sr_1_6?ie=UTF8&qid=1474063779&sr=8-6&keywords=beyblades

I actually have some video footage of my son playing it with his friend (couple of stills below) - I guess they must have been 6 or 7 years old (He's 22 next month)!

I wouldn't be surprised if that stuff is in our loft somewhere!

Yeah, I get hit once in a while for something like that.  It's frustrating.

Sometimes when someone sends me a "free" tool to review I get dinged that way and end up paying more than if I'd just bought the bloody thing in the first place.

I don't mind at all :)

I have this one: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm...geName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I bought this to see how much difference there is between a $28 top and some of the more expensive ones.

I also bought one of these: http://www.vorsospin.com/...-brass-9mm-ceramic-hybrid

You don't need a surface to spin the latter one - seems a bit more practical :)

I also got one of these: https://www.indiegogo.com...ning-top-art/x/13532921#/ but they won't ship for a while yet.

EDIT: In fact the Flat Top literally just arrived :)

Maybe you should start digging for the old Bey Blades things Dave- as I recall they had some motorized spinning devices that you may be able to adapt to your fancy new toys!

I may well end up getting a Torqbar in the future (though its quite difficult to lay your hands on one) but I think I definitely prefer the size of the Vorso Flat Top for now. The Torqbar spins longer (presumably because of the extra size / weight), but I'm finding that not to be the most important thing with the spinner. It's more about the fiddle factor for me... Lots of people like the Torqbar though.

There's a Torqbar "Stubby" which I prefer the look of, but equally hard to get and in truth I'm quite happy with the Flat Top for a while at least.

Plus - the Vorsos are made about 10 miles away from me, and I kind of like that :)

I'm a long way from being an expert, but they do seem to give a lot of bang for your buck. There are acknowledged better tops out there but not at that price it seems. They can be bought off the shelf too which is rare for the good ones!
