I love those SBs Loopcutter, I have a non case version I am waiting to try out after the Opinel challenge. I was in the shop today and ended up snagging this sowbelly too. So many new knives building up over the last month!

How many dots on the pen blade, can only see 6, is it a 2024, br  as bd spanking new?

I am excited as it is my first Case purchase, and was happy to support the local shop owner who is a cool knife/leather guy. I am counting 10 dots on the blade, which means 2020 from my cursory search.

I once used one of the single blade sowbellys as an emergency turkey carving knife.

If you like it, give the '47 stockman a try, same blades and about the same size, just a little more svelte. Probably my favorite Case.

Good to know its up for a little turkey carving!    I will keep the 47 in mind, this one is SS so I will probably need to pickup a CV model at some point to try.

For reference I included a couple side by  side shots of my Sowbelly to a 47 pattern and a 75 (the large)

The Sheepsfoot is hardier on the Sowbelly than 47.

The bottom is another 75 pattern, was a bargain and exclusive to Shepard Hills in SS


I have only seen pictures of a single blade Sowbelly and typically when a SOWBELLY appears at table or auction site they are priced at a premium.  I found mine at a retailer, with the original MRSP price point, making it bargain.

CV and CS models are frequently misunderstood by sellers, and good buys can be had compared to SS models😉

Thanks for the comparison shots, the 47 looks like a great size. The 75 though! Looks huge, I already find the Sowbelly to be on the heavier side.
I really like how the blades are tucked on the 47. I ground on the kick to lower the sheepsfoot on mine, but I wonder why Case has the nail nick on the same side as the clip point. The way it is on the other stockmans makes a lot more sense.

One of the only things I saw in SHOT Show videos that piqued my interest was the new Bridgeline series knives by Case.  My Longhouse with OD Green Micarta arrived today, and I love it!  My only complaint is that I chose the Longhouse over the Highbanks due to it being one-hand openable, but it's awkward to open with one hand (likely, my fault).

Yes, that one looks very nice too.  I love the drop point blade on it.

I’ve eyed up the Longhouse as well.  I haven’t pulled the trigger on one though, largely because the blade is somewhat shorter than I prefer on a single blade knife, and also because I wasn’t thrilled with the price.

Scales are still beautiful but pocket worn. So satisfying to have a knife that had a full life, just imagine what it was use to cut…

   I bet that old Case was used to cut twist.  Tobacco is tough on knife blades.  I think a 6347 was the last Case Stockman that I ever owned.  I bought one for Dad.  He had to have stainless.  Unfortunately, he could never keep anything and next thing I knew he had sold it to someone.  I scouted around and found one more.  It cost $11 at the time.  Way less than list, but I knew a guy.  I told him that he couldn't sell it because it belonged to me.  Carry it.  Use it.  Can't sell it.  He agreed.  About the time he retired, he had started carrying a Vic Tinker some.  He said one of the guys at work (someone he always complained about) said he wanted Dad's Case when he retired.  I said, "No way does Jim get MY knife.  I already told you the deal."
    Dad's gone.  Case is gone.  I still have the Tinker.  Somehow I always felt like a jerk for taking the Case back.  Best wishes.  G

My Dad carried a Black Schrade Weldon Muskrat pattern, the only knife he had in his pocket along with his Zippo lighter.

One knife, two identical blades, one dulls, change to other and sharpen when return home.

I found the knife last summer, he past away  20 years ago or so.   Really bad shape, suspect he lost it in driveway and it was repeatedly ran over in the gravel before someone brought it inside.  Sorry can not find the pictures
